It's called competition.

Oh wow! the almighty Americans (Canada is America's lapdog) can not handle competition? WHAT?!?!?!
I thought the God blessed Americans love free market capitalism?

My boy Yoshi, you sure it wasn't the Japs (also lapdogs of the Americans) and the Jap war criminal unit 731 who did this?

The two things most damaged will be meat production and hospitals - both of which are virtually useless without antibiotics.

Chinese government may be Communist, but they have almost no enforcement of their Capitalist's companies. The Chinese government needs to better protect it's citizens and the products they send for export. American pet owners inadvertently feed their animals poisoned pet food from China. We found high levels of lead and other heavy metals in toys from China.

Bad enough that China poison their own citizens with smog and tainted waters.

....and now this.....

So you are sold dog food that turns out to be poison, and you are responsible for the problem??? The company selling you the poison packaged as dog food has no liability??? The only way to "be responsible" is this case is to boycott Chinese products.

Except that 'the company' in question was not Chinese - it was a Canadian company called Menu Foods. They bought wheat gluten from a producer in China, which at some point became contaminated with melamine. When Menu Foods put this contaminated gluten into their pet food it caused some people's pets to become sick/dead.

Do you not take at least some basic care when you are buying something? e.g. if you're purchasing from a small provider in a country which you know has relatively weak quality control mechanisms, do you not set up any of your own? If the answer is 'no' then you're a fool.
