I am very sad to learn of this, seeing it Online about 2-3 hours ago. Princess Leia will always be a wonderful character and very pleasant memory for me. Seeing Star Wars in 1977 made going to the MOVIES FUN and a great adventure had begun, and STILL continues. I got my children "HOOKED" on the Star Wars Magic of story telling.

Yeah, Leia was an icon.

A lot of icons seem to have died this year.

Back in February, one of my friends called this the year of death. Perhaps a bit overwrought, but maybe prophetic too. It's weird that they passed, but somehow passed llama by. You'd have thought the RIP thread for John Glenn would have caught his attention at least.

I hang out on FARK a lot, and I think this meme kind of started in January when David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Abe Vigoda all died. Every celebrity death since then has only strengthened it.

I had trouble accessing the link Cited as fiftiesweb; here is one from CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/specials/world/obit-2016

It is amazing the talent that has died in 2016** and the list of accomplishments they ALL did is incredibly spectacular. May the ALL Rest In Peace.

**(and 2016 AIN'T over quite YET......)

She'll have a lucrative career as a CGI actress and will probably actually be a better actress. Win/win!

RIP Carrie Fisher, you were crazy as loon but people loved the Leia character.

I liked her in Blues Brothers. Curl up and Dye is still my favourite name for a hairdresser shop.

Fisher really lucked out with Star Wars, because even with her famous parents, her woofy looks wouldn't normally have given her much chance at stardom.
