Well, there's no humour in this one. Just whiny, saccharine lyrics, a crushingly dull ska rhythm section, and a mediocre melody. One of the worst songs ever to hit the top.

I kind of like Sting (no true music lover has no guilty pleasures), but that was weird, the first line of your post said to me it was gonna be him.
