After reading the new topics and threads recently added, I am beginning to think that ThorT has a valid point.

However, his solution and conclusion are incorrect.

Rather then being nostalgic, he needs to start and contribute to interesting discussions about current and relevant topics. I also choose to ignore more of the vapid new threads and try to offer astute comments on a few worthy topics to which I can offer insights. Look at the WWII thread.

The other threads I contributed to have essentially been rendered moot due to lack of any coherent rebuttal by those who disagree. And because of that lack of coherent and insightful comments, those trolls have been allowed to sink the discussion into a stream of inane insults.

Well...The off topics forum has always been a place for politics and news for as long as I can remember. Every once in awhile, we get a satirical genius but they either get banned or fade away.

My comment was meant as general political discourse, here, in Congress, in the media, in conversations, in general and NOT limited to CC.

I would go one step further: we as a society are more polarized. There is side A and then side B, and much less middle ground. To me, the middle ground is what is best for the country, not what is best for the party and not what is best for the candidate.

Additionally,too many public "servants" allow the public to serve them; they do not serve the public with their service.
