I hope the EPL is being paid a hefty subsidy to compensate it for the fact that half its top players are going to be routinely unavailable for league games during the opening of the season.

Also, worth noting that the last time Europe created a League of Nations it ended with Germany declaring war on everyone.

Not at all, because there won't be any friendlies or qualifiers during that period. Those will only start in march next year. The international schedule remains the same.

I got to say i had forgotten about this new competition... always better than friendlies. It's going to be every 2 years, every year...

Regarding the epl having half of the players... rolf. Funny how people all think they have the best league and nothing else counts. Always have to educate people here... the spanish think they have the best league, so do the germans, so do the english... at least the french and italians know they don t have a league as competitive even if they have tons of players in these national teams.

Ps: it's played when normally you had friendlies in the calendar so it changes jack shit for clubs.

It's going to be interesting to see the little ones fighting each other for those qualifier tickets to the euro's. Liechtenstein vs Gibraltar :o

It's not really comparable. The top 4-5 teams in the EPL are predominately made up of European national squad first team players, and even in middle of the table teams like Stoke you can still find several European national players. In Germany and Spain you have basically 2 good teams and then all the rest are crap.

What's crap is your football knowledge.
Atletico, Sevilla, Villareal, Valencia to name a few would kick the ass of your top 5 and have tons of international players too.
Just look at the winners in the last 10 years or so in champions league or europa league... it's at least 80% spanish clubs.
To think of the epl as some sort of elite league is laughable. You might want to prove it by actually beating opponents...

The french league with psg, monaco, lyon, marseille or nice is actually not as terrible as you might think either.

Real Madrid are Spain's best team and they still got flipped 3-1 by Tottenham, who are perennial bottlers and underachievers. Anyone ranking below them in a domestic league is presumably a team manned mostly by handicapped dribble mouthed children.
