Question 1, why do several teams have orange jerseys?

I bought an Astros jersey in orange for my wife because it's her favorite colour. I noticed today you can also get a Giants, Orioles, and Tigers jersey in orange.

A Tiger!?! in Orangefrica!?! The tigers don't have an orange jersey, although one is grey/orange. EDIT: Turns out they sell a "Batting Practice" jersey that is orange. Probably just trying to cash in on the Auburn fans market.

Miami Marlins introduced an orange jersey in 2012, this is what started the trend. They had hints of orange before, but they came out with a bright new orange jersey that soon captured the world's attention because of one guy who went to all kinds of games wearing that jersey.

Baltimore was the next to bring back the orange although also in 2012 they announced the new jerseys later. Baltimore hadn't had an orange jersey since 1992. Like Miami, this was a major rebrand, and their bird logo took it's current shape.

The Giants have been rockin' orange since 1977 (and originally it was a weird retro orange):

However, their new orange jersey came out in 2014, after 32 years without.

The Astros are very famous for their old orange jerseys, so it made sense after the trend to introduce a new orange jersey in 2013.

So, all the orange gang is back except the Mets.

Why all the orange? Haven't you heard it's the new black?

I edited it to clarify. It's a Monty Python joke. I suppose you've never heard of them either.

Also, I had to take the pictures out because they weren't loading properly.

I might know that sketch. Is it the one where one of the cast says that in blackface after the British officer had his leg eaten off?

Yes, although he's not in blackface.

I'll try to see if I can find the thing I mention later because I have to go to Chuck E. Cheese now.

Also check this out.

I honestly did no know that even though tigers tend to be called Siberian or Bangladesh. Mind blown?

Ah, you are right. It's supposed to be a costume. It's not at the end of your clip for some reason it's cut off.

He also did not say the "A tiger in Africa" line.

The Tiger in Africa is from the scene right before that.

A virus is what we in the medical profession call "very, very small." It couldn't possibly make off with your leg.

The best part is I probably watched The Meaning of Life more than ten times but it has gone into some deep storage in my brain.

Possibly mixing in the orange reference caused a failure to recall. Obviously it was in there somewhere because I connected the end to the rest of the bit.

I probably was not appreciating the specific mockery of the officers back in the day though I certainly understood the blatant portions. Then again maybe I understood it better at the time, since now I'm probably even more distracted by thoughts of food.

Anyone watching spring training?

Mrs dimes bought www.MLB.tv it is pricey but it kicks ass. Here you can watch everything. Last two yearsI just watched free game of the day. That's pretty good if you're a cheap ass like us.

The problem was she did not like me dragging her out to the arches to watch the World Series finals.

also, i'm not playing fantasy baseball this year. i retire undefeated.

i must have spent at least 180 hours per season. To be honest, if you count playoffs, i must have spent around 500 hours per season either watching a half a game or reading news or paying attention to my team. that's just too much. and i get a little obsessive too, i need to win, i must win.

it really sucks because this season the Judge-Stanton-Sanchez thing should be epic..

The short answer is "no." The long answer is "does watching spring training while donating platelets count?"

Sure why not?

Scott Kingery is playing third base right now.

The announcers are giving him a hard time for ducking a ball to let the short stop drop it.

I know it's crazy because the Fangraphs computers all say the Jays will do ok but the Fangraphs "experts" predict they are going to suck. The biggest problem is the division with Yankees and BoSox it can be tough to get ahead.

yeah, the yankees can't be stopped this year in the AL east. the offensive is just too good. and the pitching.. you've got Severino who should be on his best year, Tanaka that should have a better year than last two, Gray that should give you 15W. I think they signed CC for another year.. he had a good year last year. So the Yankees win the division, but the Jays can try to get the wildcard.

BTW, speaking of CC Sabathia, I've forever said those long term contracts suck because they allow the players to get comfortable and just relax and let time go by until his last year of contract. Sabathia collecting 25M the past few years and sucking every year, and then, when the contract is about to expire, he has a good year and gets another 10M out of the yankees.
