Certainly as far as the modern heavyweight boxer goes, you could not find one with the pure ability, not mention drive or self-promotion, of Muhammad Ali. However, if we're talking about pound-for-pound, who I'd put in just about any fight against just about anybody?

Philosopher, too. A great man. Like Muhammad Ali, only a more rounded fighter.

now ali was one of the greatest, no doubt about that. rocky marciano has to be reckoned to be one of the best boxers aswell. sportsman, jack nicklaus 18 grand slams 18 runners up in grand slams. tiger has a lot of catching to do, but only he at the moment could catch him.

in athletics, there was a czechoslovakian called ceplech(forgive the spelling if in correct), in one olympic games he won the 5000 yards, the 10,000 yards and the marathon all at the same games. now that is something that no one could ever repeat.

i would also like to mention Sir Steve Redgrave. enough said about him.
