Actually, Australia has a lot of problems with people bringing wildlife in and out of the country. Best tips:

1 ) Look up any creatures that pose a danger before you go and try to bring in at least one non-native species to counter them.
2 ) Pick as much coral as you want. It grows back.
3 ) Jellyfish smuggling is a problem though. When clearing customs upon leaving, remember to loudly declare "I am an American citizen and I am not smuggling jellyfish". According to the TPP preliminary agreement, you cannot be legally searched.
4 ) That stuff about baby kangaroos living in pouches is BS. They don't survive the flight.
5 ) Australia has a lot of crazy birds. If you haven't chosen your comfort animal yet, consider bringing a pregnant cat. Or just buy one from your taxi driver at the airport upon arrival.

On the Ozzy thing......so I am trying to sell a fancy airsoft rifle for my son who is no longer interested in it. I keep getting inquiries from Aussies asking if I will break it down and ship it to them in sep packages. They say stuff like "customs is really lax on this stuff" and "I do it all the time".

Having researched it, apparently the silly airsoft toys are in the same category as firearms. Cannot ship a barrel, trigger assembly, upper / lower, magazine, etc. They take it seriously.

Sure....I'll jeopardize my small biz's 25 year history to break international law for you! lol

Anyway, I was honestly floored to discover shit like paintball and airsoft are illegal there. Wow.
