Look, there's no reason to make this a personal thing, and on the whole, I think I've resisted doing that. I would ask that you do the same. Maybe this can be a space for us to actually talk about our differing opinions. Some people think it's alive and well, others think it's dying, and still others think that the over-commercialisation means that it's still lively in the underground scene while dying in the mainstream.
Sometimes people disagree. Disagreement does not ruin a thread. It's what brings threads alive sometimes. Take the commercialisation of hip-hop, as an example. Competition between artists helped it thrive back in the day, before it was dying. It helped foster creativity and originality.
So here's the thing, I'm reaching out a hand to you- let's be civil here, and not have anymore flame posts, ok?
I'm glad to see you realize the points I'm trying to bring. If you actually heard the song you will see my point to the tee. Hip hop will die and be resurrected at the same time. Hip hop is much more than dollars and cents. It's a culture. It just depends on who controls it. Mainstream will never die it's the real authentic culture that will die. Truth.
