Solo A Star Wars story. [spoilers?]

Sounds great, the ancient aliens guy endorsed it. I just can't stomach the guy playing the lead.

Seen it, liked most of it, but yeah the lead was weak. Donald Glover was good as Lando, and there were a few other standouts- notably the droid. It's not great by any means, but Harrison Ford is a tough act to follow. It also pretty much settles the weird "does Chewie have seniority?" debate in another thread.

It's a fun movie, but you shouldn't go out of your way to see it. If you want to go the cinema though, you probably won't be disappointed.

There's a pretty bizarre twist towards the end though. Spoiler:

show

Pros:
It's a fun movie, with a good cast
Lando, L3-37, Woody Harrelson (NB: he's just playing Woody Harrelson, he doesn't even have a proper Star Wars name. It's like Toby Becket or something).
No Jar-Jars, Ewoks, or whatever the things were called in Last Jedi.

Cons:
A lot of fan service- almost every scene has some obscure reference.
Han Solo, Woody Harrelson.

Is it me, or is the hype for Star Wars slowly dimming down again? Seems like I've heard very little of this new movie.

You'll just have to watch the film to find out.

I saw it recently at the theater and I found it a decent movie, but NOT GREAT. I am glad I saw it; there are some "holes" filled in, such as how Chewie and Solo met and how Solo got the Millenium Falcon. The female lead character allows for a sequel as there are unanswered questions about her at the end.

I can see why there may NOT be a sequel to this one; I am not sure there is a big draw to attract a big audience. The unfinished story lines are not compelling. I read that Disney is backing off these "sideline stories" and will instead concentrate on the next trilogy.

I think this should have been my favorite offshoot. Unless the do one for a couple of my favorite minor characters.

I actually like Aldren Enrich and found Hail Ceasar to be excellent. I just can't buy him as Han. Eventually I'll watch it under duress.

Disney really screwes the poch on this one.

Much of the movie was shot in shadows making it dark and distracting.

The storyline was ok, but they did a horrible job developing it.

I enjoyed it, but was far below star wars standards.

That's kind of a shame. When done right, they're really good. I actually really liked Rogue One. It was fun and filled in some information.

I didn't understand the blind guy. I am with the force..the force is with me. Yet, he had no force. Seemed useless.

But he did have the force, he just wasnt a jedi.

He used the force to know what was around him and kick ass.

He couldn't do much. Read minds or lift spacecraft. He did deflect a few rounds in one scene

Every living thing has the force. He was just never taught how to channel and direct it better.

For all his work (chanting all the time) he should have got more reward (powers). I was expecting a breakthrough moment near the end when he did something super Jedi style.

That's why coaching is usually important. If you work hard doing something wrong, you may never do it right.
