using the N-word In any form is not allowed in GC .. that is 100% logical.. because it is listed as a Racial Slur. and would be offensive to some, would say most.. but maybe not all black people.. regardless of context.. I completely agree with this and as per rule 7 of the community guidelines it is not allowed..

this is a derogatory racial slur used to describe White People.
but it is allowed to be used in GC. and it's use has been defended by mods ..

regardless of context .. the N-word is never allowed. in any form..
but the H-Word is allowed. as long as it has context...

why is this allowed. ?

there are some members who use this terminology in GC to describe certain things. certain people and directed towards myself over the past few months.. along with other racial terms that describe white people.. like the R-word.

I do not understand why when I point this out to mods directly.. I am told to shut up about it or get a ban...

racial slurs are racial slurs. .regardless of who they are directed towards.. regardless of context. and as per rule 7 of the community guidelines. 'ANY FORM of Racism is not allowed.'

I have used "hillbilly" before as a derogatory term to infer someone is dimwitted, inbred, uninformed or backwards in some way.

I have to admit though, I have never actually thought about how this may impact actual hillbillies.

I am sorry Nomad and I will try to be more considerate in the future.

like i said in the PM, you quoted off a joke site. It states it on the homepage and I verified that by looking at Australian slurs, which the majority listed there are not slurs

Redneck & Hick are allowed in GC... you should ask them if you allowing the use of those slurs on the website you work for is ok with them... because if members go off on a tangent calling your family members rednecks in GC and your family members see it and contact you saying .. "why do you allow these slurs to be used towards us" and you say . ."too bad , deal with it.. it's allowed".. that's pretty harsh..

It's the association with the slave trade that has led to the word being banned. N's were large muscular people who originated from Nigeria and Niger. Due to their size and strength, they were in demand. Any word that reminds people of those dark days in our history is rightly taboo in society. Why it's become popular for young black men to refer to their friends as my n*&$£a's, god only knows. I would have thought they'd rather forget about all that. I for one am glad the word is banned in CC.

Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me. Free speech is very important as long as it's used with care and consideration. I'm totally against banning any other words, however using words maliciously to cause offence will always be against the rules.

Let's put it out there that these false accusations are mainly directed towards me.... although he does say "members (plural) use this terminology to describe certain things, people, and direct towards him"

1) I've never called him or anyone in GC a Hillbilly (which he accused me of doing so in Global Chat)

2) I've never called Trump supporters Hillbillies (as he also accused me of doing in Global Chat).... SOMEONE ELSE did that, which is what started all this nonsense.... I replied to that players comment with... "doesn't matter if they are because the public vote doesn't matter. Maybe there are Hillbillies in the Electoral College, I don't know"... and I get called a racist for that???....

3) "regardless of context"??? Context means everything when using words that can be offensive if used the wrong way and ESPECIALLY when a word has more then one completely different definition... Telling someone they are "gay" when you're mad at them and saying "you must be feeling pretty gay today after that win" is two completely different ways to use that word (sad I even have to explain this).... one should never be allowed, the other should be more then ok to say anytime.... kinda like saying "I like to listen to Hillbilly" in reference to Country Music... or did you really think I said "I like to listen to an unsophisticated country person, associated originally with the remote regions of the Appalachians."?

No flaming is not a rule. Game chat is quite liberal. Don't be so pathetic lol. You're not seriously offended over someone saying "you're a piece of shit" so don't pretend otherwise. Presumably, this random Nomad guy genuinely thinks hillbilly is a racial slur, so it's understandable why he'd be offended even if he's wrong.

Personally I don't feel the hillbilly is a racist term. I feel that if you want to be offended then you will be offended. NomadPatriot and Elaterate don't seem to like each other. That issuse has been addressed but to no avail. Would NomadPatriot have been offended if it wasn't Elaterate that is being accused of this crime? The two were asked to FOE and mute each other but apparently they haven't. You have the tools available to use but you won't use them. I come to the conclusion that maybe you want to be want to be offended.

That is my personal opinion.

it is very strange how someone of a certain race or color can point out a situation where a known racial slur is being used. .informing the moderators it is offensive & the mods tell the person too bad.. you want to be offended.. but it isn't like it's only because I am white.. couldn't be that..
