destroying the narrative;:|May 19th, 2019

It appears that Iceland won’t have to be renamed Tepidlandia anytime soon after all.

According to researchers at the University of Iceland, each of the country’s glaciers will expand this year for the first time in the past 25 years.

As reported in Electroverse, the Hofsjökull, Langjökull, Mýrdalsjökull, and Vatnajökull glaciers have expanded over the last twelve months, from autumn to autumn, “With Mýrdalsjökull showing a really significant addition of ice this year.”

These are the largest glaciers in Iceland: Hofsjökull is third largest after Vatnajökull and Langjökull, while Mýrdalsjökull is the country’s fourth largest ice cap.

so, they grow once in one year out of 25. what narrative has been destroyed here, NP?

One year a trend does not make. The big picture and the overall pattern has not yet changed in any significant way.

Could the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland be a factor?

Yeah. Unlike volcanoes in other parts of the world, Icelandic volcanoes tend to expel ice.

Either that or they throw up dust that blocks the sun, thereby allowing glaciers to grow.

It’s not unheard of...

I mean can we get over climate-denial?

Please!

The ship has sailed on this debate, give it up.

‘Global Warming’ doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to get warmer everywhere.

Although scientists are, en masse, in agreement that humans are affecting the climate with our chemicals, our carbon, and our farming/livestock... there is still some question how these changes will impact the environment in different parts of the world. There’s one reasonable theory/model that suggests global warming could actually trigger an ice-age in the North Atlantic. Yes, counter-intuitive but who knows...

There is a short article attached, you can google more yourselves. I’m not saying this WILL happen, I’m saying it’s a theory. There is still a lot scientists don’t know.... though again they do know that ‘we’, mankind, is having an impact on the global environment.

The short version of the theory is that warmer weather melts ice in North Pole... this ice then lowers the temperature of water in the N. Atlantic. The cooler water changes the gulf-stream in the Atlantic. Once that happens warmer weather in the middle Atlantic stays south and doesn’t make it’s way up to the eastern part of northern US/Canada and N. Europe. This creates an ice-age.

Basically, instead of every place getting warmer, we just create a situation where we have bigger extremes.

I’m not a scientist... if you want a better description read the link or google it.

https://yaleglobal.yale.edu/content/wil ... ew-ice-age

... oh and yes, I know that a kind is NOT the only influence on global weather. Obviously massive volcanic eruptions have an impact... also huge asteroids crashing into Earth can affect things too. We need to study those things as well and influence them if we can... meanwhile what we can do is reduce our impact.

While we are at it... Nomad, I just noticed your location....

‘Self Sufficient Fortress America’

Can you let. Me know where this place is? I’d like to move there.

Honestly, I wish the USA was self-sufficient. I think we, as a nation, should work to getting back to a place where we were.
Unfortunately it’s not the case now.

Please admit you realize we, the USA, is not truly self-sufficient... and we are tied to a global economy and don’t make or produce everything we use and need.

Please don’t try to tell me that you personally are self-sufficient and you only ‘buy American’... cause it’s a myth.

I support the idea and wish we had the option to buy things that were truly manufactured from the ground-join the US. It’s something we should work toward, and maybe is possible for some goods...but it’s not possible (currently) across the board.

it's not Global Warming anymore Jimmy. it's Climate Change..

oh what.. sorry.. they changed it again. now it is no longer Climate Change. .It is Climate Chaos..

gotta keep moving those Goal Posts.....

you just let me know what I buy then..

because the only thing you do is sling accusations at people all day long. and if someone explains themselves or says something that is true that doesn't fit your narrative.. either you do not listen to what they are saying or you just accuse them of lying..

you have done it multiple times Jimmy Butts.. you even do it in the quote I provided. " please don't try to tell me.."
your clearly say.. 'don't try to tell me'.. so anything I would say is just me 'trying' to let you know something. .. it wouldn't be a fact or the truth.. it would just be me 'trying' to tell you something...

so you just tell me what I spend my money on...
also you forgot to say that my location is 'Racist Fascist & Homophobic'.

The simple fact is it is not possible for you to buy only ‘American Made’ products. Period.
I honestly wish it was possible... but it’s not.

It’s possible to try to buy American Made only products.... and you might wind up getting a significant portion of your purchases to be US only if you work at it.

It’s maybe possible to be using only American Made stuff if you live off the grid and remove yourself from society.

The simple fact that you are able to communicate here in this forum is enough evidence for me that you buy products that are not solely ‘American Made’ because whatever computer/device you are using would not qualify as ‘Made in the USA’ by any real standards. It might be assembled or designed in the USA, but the vast majority of the components where bulky elsewhere. So yeah... you don’t live in ‘Self Sufficient Fortress America’ sorry.

I have rarely ever bought anything from Wal-mart.

I think it is possible to only buy American made things but it would be difficult.

I'm not sure you could buy only Canadian made anymore.

There are decent things made in China these days. Even though I don't like the corporation, this old iPad mini is awesome! We also have a great Fender Statocaster. It was under $200 Canadian. With better pick ups you could play it professionally anywhere.

Also to deny climate change is rediculas. There are fossils of tropical plants here in Alberta. Several years ago people were shocked when we had a real winter...

No surprise the glaciers are growing with the extra moisture in the atmosphere this is all fact.

Try buying an American Made computer, TV, or any major appliance.

With some research you can get something Assembled in USA and with more research you might find something where 50% or 75% of the parts where built in the USA.... but 50%-75% isn’t REALLY “Made in the USA”. It’s not truly ‘self sufficient’. Trying getting that computer or major appliance to work with only 50%-75% of the parts.

Outside food (Apple Pies) what are the two things that come mind when you think of the USA? Baseball and Flags.
You CAN find American Made baseball gloves and flags online. So it is possible to buy these two quintessential American items that are Made in the USA.
That said, the VAST MAJORITY of baseball gloves and American flags you find in retail stores are made in China or elsewhere.

If you want to live off-the grid and live a very austere life you may be able to do this with only American Made goods.

You’d need to buy a lot of used stuff and you’d need to be willing and able to do a lot of repairing and refurbishing.

It’s perfectly fine and acceptable to do this if you choose. I commend it.

If even a small percentage, like 10%, of Americans tried it today it wouldn’t work.

That said... if Americans started pushing and pressing companies to build here and started boycotting en masses companies who didn’t start moving towards American self-sufficiency then we could, maybe within like 10 years, get to a point where ‘buying only American Made’ was possible for your average American.

Right. No one needs a television or appliances.

Your point that anyone online making the claim is a myth stands.

I asked you to make me a jacket but nooooo. So now I have one from China I bought at the giant surplus place in Idaho that I thought was in Wasington during spring break where we experienced erratic climate during our drive to Vegas.

I wish I didn't stop competitive buffet eating before going to a place you can buy a 24 hour pass for buffets.

Did anyone else actually read the article, and not just the headline? They explained in it that this occurs (predictably) once every 20-30 years, even when the overarching trend is one of melting. This was never a climate denial article, the OP was just click-bait from a troll.

Oh and since they convo switch... My product is made entirely in USA! We do source packaging materials from Spain, Mexico, China and Portugal.

For a more comprehensive discussion of Global Warming and Climate Change, read the following Forum thread:

Is Global Warming The Greatest Lie In Human History? NO IT IS NOT. JP

[Game]https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=228401&hilit=Global+Warming&start=200[/Game]

I do not need to repeat ALL the facts that support my conclusion and the conclusion of some 97% of those scientist doing research in this area of study. Global Warming is REAL and the evidence of Human activity as the cause is quite overwhelming.

To summarize: 1) human activity by burning fossil fuels release CO2 into the atmosphere is directly linked to increased temperatures (aka warming).
2) evidence of melting of polar ice caps and glaciers is overwhelming
3) more evidence of global warming is available online and I will let those interested find these facts for themselves. I will post one of many: https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

Most deniers of Global Warming will 1) cherry pick the minimum data that may support their denials or

2) attempt to deny the science by first claiming a thesis and look for any minutia of evidence supporting their false assumption or

3) bury their heads in the sands (the hot type, made even hotter by the Global Warming they are denying).

I'm a regular user of American bred women, though I have used foreign bred women in the past.

I will do my patriotic duty and try my best to use only American bred women.

Now what about this stupid title about growing glaciers, shouldn't we be growing more American bred women?

Even IF the name changes, it is still the same phenomenon, supported by the same facts: Global Warming caused by human activity.

And those facts have not been refuted by any denier, especially here in this Forum nor adequately elsewhere by anyone credible. PERIOD.

Are we denying dinosaurs and the climate to support tropical plants existed in Canada once, or were those high temperatures also caused by "human activity"?
