Iranian law enforcement officials boarded a British oil tanker and took it into protective custody after the vessel was engaged in unsafe navigation practices that put other shipping at risk.



According to news reports, the UK is on its own until a friendly government assumes power, the current May government and her minion ambassador having recently insulted President Donald J. Trump.

If the UK wants its ship back, it is now left waiting until either (a) Boris Johnson is elected, (b) the Royal Navy finishes outfitting its new aircraft carriers, circa 2022, (c) it activates the EU mutual defense treaty and the Slovak, Hungarian, and Czech navies come racing to the rescue.

The sad truth is that this escalation is going to lead to military action and the US will get involved.

... and nobody will win.

What worries me is this will be no small war.

The U.S. and Britain are bullying Iran in exactly the same way that Germany and Austria bullied Serbia before the Great War.

Iran is scoring the early points. The Royal navy looked silly as the Iranians made no secret they wanted a British tanker. In reality the Brits don't have the number of ships they use to have and are spread thin.

Yup. The RN has like 18 surface ships left and is busy threatening half the world. They just learned that's a bad idea.

President Trump has committed to no war and doubly no war to countries who send rude ambassadors to Washington. So the UK can get their own ships back; or continue issuing stern verbal warnings that everyone ignores, like ...

If the RN goes to Iran with most its ships, it would be a great opportunity for France to invade GB, since they are not part of the EU.

That sounds like a great overall deal. Alsace Lorraine is all about depressend unemployed drunks, while britain has way more depressed unemployed drunks
