Any restrictions on gun sales helps to curb gun violence, including suicides and murders. The proposed restrictions will not end as many as some hope.

UPDATE: It appears the crazed shooter was influenced by Biden and Rat talking points. He posted messages to social media in which he called for the arrest of J6 supporters.

Should we ban guns or just ban the Democratic Party? (I mean it's happening on Jan 21 2025 anyway, but maybe the timeline needs to be accelerated?)

I think weapon restrictions in the US need loosening personally. It is currently very difficult or impossible for a freedom-loving American to buy grenades, mines, RPGs and other tactical explosives. That needs to change.

Today, a person from Illinois, using a gun acquired in Illinois, shot dead six people in Illinois. Illinois has an overall homicide rate of 11.2 per 100,000.

Utah has virtually no firearms laws except you can't own a bazooka or a thermonuclear warhead. There was no mass shooting today in Utah. The last mass shooting in Utah happened five years ago when three people were killed. Utah has an overall homicide rate of 2.9 per 100,000.

No matter how saxi wants to try to SPIN the numbers and rationalize the data, there IS HUGE problem of GUN Violence in the USA. PERIOD.

Utah is an outlier. Have you ever met a Mormon, saxi?

(Most of the homicides are likely done in their few big cities and/or by a handful of those still believing in polygamy.)

saxi needs to ponder more of what Albert Einstein, a pacifist, is telling him.

Jezus, Mook. That comment was both stupid and uninformed. I am disappointed in you.

I can make those statements too.....

Another DUI manslaughter by a raging wine drinker....no one is surprised.

Ukraine has a problem with gun violence. Afghanistan has a problem with gun violence. Somalia has a problem with gun violence.

The United States doesn't. Brazil doesn't. Even Mexico doesn't. For the average person not in an abusive relationship, not engaged in a life of crime, and who doesn't live in Chicago, the chances of being shot is astronomically low as an absolute measure (i.e. not using the spin and rationalization of comparison against OECD averages).

It is a problem of Gun Violence in the USA, despite your attempts to minimize the issues.

There have been over 300 mass shootings so far in 2022
Jun 2, 2022 — There hasn't been a single week in 2022 without a mass shooting. The July Fourth shooting in Highland Park, Ill., that left six people dead

https://www.washingtonpost.com › nation › 2022/06/02

There have been several folks murdered near where I live. Highland Park, Ill, is considered an upper scale community and that community is NOT IMMUNE from the Gun Violence. Where was the private citizen carrying a gun to protect that community?

The US is not at war, unlike Ukraine. Brazil has LOTS of poverty; so does Somalia and they have ineffective government, too, that exacerbates the bad situation. You use OUTLIERS to make comparisons and they are rather worthless examples, saxi.

Both statements true of the US too tbf.

If you were looking for differences between the US and Somalia then you could have mentioned that only one is currently being used as target practice by the US military.

Recently departed Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was just gunned down by an assassin while giving a speech.

Guns are illegal in Japan.

The last U.S. leader assassinated with a gun was in 1963.

Guns are legal in the U.S.

INB4 "but they probably bought the gun in Texas!"

(Old Joe's ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel - who does not speak Japanese and had never been to Japan prior to becoming ambassador - said he was "shocked and saddened" at learning of the assassination from his translators)

No wonder the Dems are so hangry for gun control. They're the only ones people keep offing. If they were even 10% less annoying, people might stop shooting them.

17 people were shot in a single mass shooting in South Africa yesterday

South Africa has highly restrictive gun control laws, requiring licensing, gun possession limits, and allows full police discretion in the permitting of weapons

All 17 victims were black so white American liberals aren't hysterically sobbing crocodile tears or probably even aware it happened
