British MP Sir David Amess was assassinated, the second British MP to be assassinated in the last five years.
https://www.cnn.com/uk/live-news/david- ... index.htmlSir David was a strong supporter of Brexit. Another violent attack by left-wing extremists?

I didn't like him, but he was killed while doing his job, talking to constituants like an MP should. He was my MP at one point when I lived in Basildon. His victory speech was 'I didn't prepare a speech 'cos I didn't expect to win.'
The place he was murdered was just a few hundred yards from the house my in-laws lived in, and which my wife rents out now.
Dreadful business.

Wonder if it'll help persuade the Tories to finally reopen the youth clubs.

Because youth are so bored without that they have nothing else to pass the time than assassinate MPs?

Stabbing in general, although maybe now the victim was a guvmint man and not some black kid the government might actually care about it.
Although I see they're gearing up the usual 'muslims and democracy!!!!' response so maybe not.

So, the UK has 1/5 the population of the U.S. But it has had three members of parliament assassinated on its territory since 1990 while the U.S. has had zero. Adjusted for population that's 15:0. Parliament and Congress are roughly the same size and members of neither, except senior leadership, are routinely protected.
The last sitting member of Congress killed on U.S. territory was more than 50 years ago, in 1968, when Sirhan Sirhan shot Bobby Kennedy. And before that, Huey Long in 1935.
