I heard an asphodel is a kind of lily whose name means something about following someone to the grave, and wormwood symbolizes regret (or some such similar emotion).

Therefore the first thing Snape ever said to Harry (the above question) actually has the hidden subtext of expressing anguish over Lily Potter's death. Supposedly JK Rowling did this deliberately.

Has anyone else got any good Harry Potter trivia?

Hey, I read the first 4 books even though they were written for 6 year olds.

:O You've missed out man. JK Rowling brilliantly transformed her style towards later books. As Harry & co. grew older, she adapted the characters and plotpoints to match their growth and that of readers. Earlier books are meant for younger audiences 10 year olds, while later books are obviously YA.
