tuna

'Tuna'. How do people pronounce this word? I made two sorts of pizza for a gathering yesterday, and when I told people 'this one is tuna, and this one is sausage', almost all of the sausage one went first. I suspect that people didn't understand when I said 'tuna'. I pronounce it as 'Tune - ah', although with my lingering London accent it might sound more like 'CHEW- NAH', Once I tried saying 'Toon-er', people started eating it. Though that might have been 'cos all the sausage was gone.

So you made a pizza for the stray cats in your area. Now you figure your pronunciation was putting people off it?

Maybe there wasn't enough sweet corn on it.

I never had Tuna (Tune-ah) on any pizza.

I have NO desire to try it. I do like tuna, but NOT on pizza. (To be fair, I MAY like it, but that combination of tuna and tomato sauce does not appeal to me. Cheese does not help.)

I have had pineapple on a pizza and I did not like that, btw.

I do like lots on my pizza, especially sausage, pepperoni, black olives, onion, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Bacon and ham are good, too. I have enjoyed, but not as much, white sauce pizza. I have had anchovies on my pizza, but I am not a big fan of that.

Tuna sandwiches are good. Calzone is my favorite at a pizza place. Last night I had Stromboli.

You can tune a piano the same way you tune a fish... or maybe you can't?

I think it's just an uncommon topping which is probably why people avoided it.

A number of people came back for 'seconds' of the tuna. Try it. it's good. Lemon and dill were involved too.

Tuna mayonnaise and salt n vinegar crisp sarnies, lovely with a cup of tea.

How you pronounce it is like chewna. Much like the debate around Nice biscuits. I pronounce them as nice but some people call them nice.

Your main mistake was probably just thinking Americans would enjoy a proper pizza. Not your fault.

Next time make a pizza covered in 5 inches of cheese and burger sauce and watch them devour it like hogs.

what is
burger sauce

?
Do you mean catsup or ketchup?

And why stop at 5 inches? go at least 7 on a pizza....get real, ralph.

And, tbh, ralph, I do not know single person who has catsup with pizza, unless they go for the gluttony combo and eat pizza with French Fries.

let me think: There is a THIN layer of PIZZA (not burger) sauce (tomato sauce) put on the PROPER pizza before it is baked.

Do Brits put catsup on Pizza? If that is true, it is NO wonder Brits have the worst menus in the world.

Yes, I agree with llama on this. NO seafood on a PROPER pizza, NOT even anchovies. And certainly NO tuna and NO pineapple. If I lived in Hawaii and had limited pizza options and the cost of imported food is HIGH, then perhaps I would expand my culinary options. BUT not for a proper pizza.

When ever I've seen the term "burger sauce" it generally refers to a generic version of the so-called "secret sauce" that's on a Big Mac. It's essentially Thousand Islands salad dressing with some minor tweaks unique to MacDonald's.
