Well then, sorry to disappoint your sadistic revels, but my eyes are quite dry, ...and seeing very clearly.

It's a start. Still thousands of crimes for which he has not even been charged, never mind convicted.

But it's a beginning.

F.A.Q. answered:
This charge is state level and a president cannot pardon for these crimes. The NY gov can pardon or commute.
NY does not have mandatory minimums that would apply here, the max penalty is 4 year per charge (34 charges) but judge can give him a fine and let him go home if he chooses.

Even though he'll file appeal after appeal until his pet Supremes rescue him, it's still a moral victory.

All those millions spent on lawyers and they couldn't bullshit their way out of this one.

Surge in Donations to Trump Crash Website After Verdict

WinRed, the payment processor for Republican campaign donations, crashed after former President Donald J. Trump’s felony conviction, a technical issue that his campaign attributed to the number of people trying to donate in the immediate aftermath of the verdict.

“So many Americans were moved to donate to President Trump’s campaign that the WinRed pages went down,” the Trump campaign said in a statement on social media.

Verdict to Have No Impact on Voting Intent

On average, Trump loses 6 points of support after a conviction is taken into account — but Biden gains only 1 point. "Someone else" or undecided gains 5 points. That's consistent with the idea that this conviction will make some Trump supporters squeamish about the idea of pulling the lever for him, so they will stop identifying as Trump supporters for a while — but most of them won't go so far as to vote for Biden.

And that, in turn, could indicate that this drop in Trump's support will be short-lived.

it also makes it part of his record which will now be part of his other upcoming trials. Also to Duk- its very very very difficult to overcome a jury sentence which is good news. And the first attempt by he whos name should never be mentioned was slapped down immediately.
prison or no prison he is now a convicted felon

a. Juries don't issue sentences, juries issue verdicts. Judges issue sentences.
b. And, no it's not any harder to set aside a jury verdict than a bench verdict if there are sufficient grounds for appeal. Which there are. Even CNN's legal analyst Elie Honig has been rending his hair over several critical procedural failings he says set up a likely appellate set-aside and order for a new trial (a new trial that will never come).

lokisgal wrote:it also makes it part of his record which will now be part of his other upcoming trials.

a. Past convictions can't be introduced or considered in trial phase, only in sentencing
b. There will be no more trials prior to the election; this was the only one. The other three have stalled out. And, if you believe your own talking points, there will be no more elections either.

Overall, this is great news for those of us who want Trump to take extreme measures once back in power.

There have always been clear concerns that, in his advancing age and penchant for relaxation, he'd just phone-in the campaign and then glide through a second term. But now he's backed into a corner and has no choice but to pull out all the stops in his campaign and, once restored, to institute draconian, scorched earth policies untethered from any restraint.

NATO celebrated its 75th birthday this year. It won't see 76. A war machine can't operate when its drivers all have their heads on spikes.

The coup attempt, to be known as the Beer Hall Putsch, fizzled out almost immediately. Hitler was arrested and imprisoned. Yet instead of catastrophically setting him back, Hitler’s failed coup turned out to help advance his ambitions. As Hitler himself later said, “The failure of the putsch was perhaps the greatest good fortune of my life.”

Really crazy to wonder what the jurors were thinking, knowing that their names and home addresses will be "accidentally leaked" on January 22, 2025. And since conviction required unanimity, each juror's vote is already known. A lifetime of new and unique experiences are coming their way, all just to render a conviction on a crime that -- maybe -- will land Trump two years' probation and a fine.

Maybe they all have second homes in Venezuela they were planning on moving to anyway? Dunno.

The 34 count number is funny and is so obviously a fluff-up done by trump's enemies to make the whole situation seem like a much bigger deal than it really is.
In truth, this 'whole hush money trial' is in regards to only one isolated, single incident,
...but since that one incident happened to have been recorded on 34 separate pieces of paper ...voila, 34 felony counts, how absurd.

NEVER confuse the words law and justice.
The former is always created and manipulated by those in power for their own ends.
...and the latter doesn't really exist.

Allying oneself with the forces of perpetual war, violence, death and misery is not "the right thing."

Same reason your fellow Austrians were in danger for just doing their duty after WW2?

(What's up with these Germans? No matter how many of them you hang, they still don't get it.)

The real irony is Trump will probably just shrug off the jury-hate and mostly feel relieved that his time isn't being wasted just sitting around a blue state kangaroo court.

Meanwhile the rabid Trump haters (packmac, etc.) are probably trying to desperaely hide an all-encompassing black cloud of depression...
Slowly it is dawning on them that no matter how much they try to overcome their inadequacies by hating Trump, nothing thay can say or do will ever really fill the empty void inside themselves.
