------------ Why April 22nd???...Well back in 1970A.D. It was formed to bring Environmental Help...To Save The Earth...To Get College Kids on board for the movement/demonstrate...To save the planet... April 22nd...Was chose because...The students would be on Easter Vacation/Spring Break that year... Hoping around that time the weather would be nice......That date stuck as the Official Day of Earth Day... ... Spring Break, a Catholic School goer would say...Easter Vacation...
---------- Who can forget... Captain Planet...He's Our HERO...He's going to bring pollution down to Zero... ...Those Coke-Cola commercials in the 1970's A.D...Save the Planet,love everyone...
----------- A neat fact.....The Japanese are the cleanest and Koolest people on the Planet....While Americans are probably the laziest and most dirty and destructive...Like when The Japanese fans go to say The World Cup(Soccer/Futball)...They bring their own garbage bags and clean up after themselves...
----------- While Americans litter everywhere....When my daughters had softball...We would throw trash from the team in park garbage cans, even trash we found laying around the field...There would always be trash all over the park and softball/baseball diamonds...Sad... ...When I ride my bike...There is broken glass from beer, pop/soda, liquor bottles all over...Like the Seinfeld episode, Michigan has a 10 cent bottle return on pop and beer bottles/cans...But still, broken glass everywhere...Yes, most pop is plastic...Pop ,beer in cans...They are all over as well....Fast Food garbage , all over...ETC...Face it....Americans are pigs...Although , I hate to insult the actual pigs...Sorry Porky...

NOW, what EVERYONE has been waiting for: What I do for Earth Day.

1) As a teacher I make an effort to educate my students about Earth Day and about Environmental Stewardship.
I did a specific activity for a few minutes yesterday and I also encourage my "students" in my Sunday School to do something for Environmental Stewardship. Nearly all of us in class do something, mostly recycling efforts to some degree.

2) I do compost in my yard and use the compost I generate in my small garden.

For Duk>> A fellow Canadian, from the Toronto area, as I recall, called my small garden as a "Hobby Garden."

3) I recycle, mostly paper and cardboard, at my School. I haul (in my own vehicle) several recycling bins to a nearby Recycle station. AND:
