No fuss. Terrible business closed, as it should.

Easy to make fun of.

US restaurant chain Cracker Barrel scraps new logo after backlash

US restaurant chain Cracker Barrel has abandoned plans to adopt a new logo following fierce backlash.

"We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our 'Old Timer' will remain," the company said in a social media post.

Cracker Barrel received criticism after it unveiled a modern version of its logo which scrapped the "Old Timer" figure.

and, financially:

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is forecast to reach $3.6 billion in revenue and $86.3 million in earnings by 2028. This outlook assumes a 0.8% annual decline in revenue, while earnings are expected to increase by $28.5 million from the current $57.8 million.

I mean, why the fuss about the logo? Is there some deep political aspect I'm unaware of?

Apparently:
Trump says Cracker Barrel should return to old logo

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump has jumped into the Cracker Barrel controversy, advising the restaurant chain to go back to its old sign following a MAGA backlash to the company's rebrand.

Trump's foray into the Cracker Barrell debate comes after Republican lawmakers have roundly criticized the Tennessee-based restaurant for ditching its longtime logo ‒ featuring a man in overalls seated next to a wooden barrel ‒ for a simpler, more modern look that contains only the restauraunt's name.

"Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before," Trump said in an Aug. 26 post on Truth Social.

For the record, I have not been to one in some 3 years or so. Great food, though; their cheesy hashbrown casserole is AWESOME, and so is their bacon from or which tastes like Ham. :D =D> :D and so is:
For a traditional Southern breakfast, try Uncle Herschels Favorite. Includes your choice of protein and Fried Apples or Hashbrown Casserole.

Why does the President care about a food chain's logo? I'm really puzzled. Trump Jr started it, but I can't for the life of me see why he cared either.

Thankfully, in large part to the hard work of Gov Gavin Newsom the barrel has agreed to change the wildly unpopular new logo to match what 'the american people' want.

We also have some of the best damn sushi and culinary sea food. Idk wtf you're smoking thinking we don't know anything about food, but you're ignorant so i get it.

So much about trying to start a discussion of good food. Some people are so sensitive that they cannot take a JOKE. Can anyone say SNOWFLAKE?

Anyway, Cracker Barrel has great items for breakfast. The ones I go to are usually crowded and forget about getting a table at 9 am on a Saturday morning. I usually do not go there for dinner, but the few times I did I really enjoyed my meals; Classics served.

As far as sushi, I get some here and there, but it has gotten SO EXPENSIVE that I rarely partake; SAME with seafood at many restaurants.

Cracker Barrel has seen declining sales in the past 5+ years and they were trying to make some positive moves, that did NOT work. I compared this to NEW Coke earlier, ConfedSS.

And, basically, ConfedSS, things are NOT working as well as you may perceive. It's BUSINESS.

AI Overview (a summary based on at least 3 sources, including USA Today, New York Post, and more)

Cracker Barrell's stock price plummets after CEO's relevancy ...

Cracker Barrel's sales and revenue have been declining due to a combination of factors including rising food costs leading to price increases, decreased customer traffic, increased competition, and the brand's struggle with relevancy with a younger demographic. The company has seen a significant decrease in customer traffic, with sales down from previous years. In response, Cracker Barrel plans to modernize its restaurants, refresh its menu, and launch a new rewards program to attract new diners and increase customer loyalty.

Key Indicators of Decline
Decreased Customer Traffic:
.
Customer traffic has declined, with CEO Julie Felss Masino stating it was down approximately 16% in fiscal year 2024 compared to 2019.
Revenue and Sales Drops:
.
Cracker Barrel reported a 1.9% decrease in total revenue and a 1.5% drop in comparable store restaurant sales in the third quarter of fiscal 2024.
Retail Sales Slips:
.
Comparable store retail sales also declined by 3.8% in the third quarter of fiscal 2024.
Contributing Factors
Inflation and Price Hikes:
The restaurant has raised prices to offset increased food costs, which can deter some consumers from dining out.
Struggling with Relevancy:
Cracker Barrel has lost cultural relevance and is perceived as stagnant, particularly with a declining core customer base of seniors who have been slow to return post-pandemic.
Competitive Landscape:
The company faces increased competition from other restaurants, losing market share, especially during the dinner daypart.
Operational and Brand Issues:
Problems include aging decor, inconsistent food quality, and a need to modernize the overall brand experience.

It's Business, and Marketing ("gimmicks"), too. Businesses are always searching for ways to drive sales and revenue and find new customers. Established businesses do lots, including ads, of course, to bring back repeat customers. And sometimes, there are the BIG mistakes, like New Coke, a "classic" in bad marketing.

AI Overview, on Cracker Barrel
Impact:
The failed rebrand resulted in a significant drop in Cracker Barrel's market value and is being cited as an expensive business strategy failure.

JC Penney, another struggling company, had one of those, too, some 15-20 years ago, BUT that did not get anywhere NEAR the attention of Cracker Barrel.
