Spain didn't score many to win the world cup. They seem more interested in just keeping the ball. First round is normally cagey event. You don't want to lose your first game.

We are so far behind the rest of the world in terms of standard, development, and structure, and the only two clubs that are any good are two of the worst teams for sectarianism, hate, violence etc.

I don't hate them as clubs or the players on those teams, I hate what surrounds them, and Scottish football in general. :?

We are not far behind most other similar countries. There are few nations with as great a history as ours with as low a population count. Stop being so pessimistic and get behind your own countires teams, part of the reason Scottish football is a "disgrace" is because people like you would rather watch and support the EPL.

If the old firm were to cease to exist then I would go and support Partick Thistle or maybe Hibs since I am moving to Edinburgh soon, rather than an EPL team.

Speaking of ceasing to exist, Rangers in liquidation :o They need 7 out of 11 teams to vote them back in and it is going to be pretty tight. I reckon they will get 8 with only us, Dundee Utd and Hibs abstaining maybe Aberdeen too.

Holland are having a nightmare of a tournament. They should have beaten Denmark, and they could have beaten the Germans, but instead they're sitting on 0 points in the group of death.

They can still go through. They just need Germany to beat Denmark, and they need to trounce Portugal.

Only Uruguay can claim a greater history with a similiar population..

would we have more belief in England's chances in Ukraine if Harry was the England manager?

England have something about them. Not world beaters by a mile, but they look like a team that actually deserves to be playing in the Euros and the World Cup. I think Hodgson is doing a good job. A point will be enough to see them through, but I'm backing them to win their last game vs Ukraine.

Oh, and great to see Walcott (I'm an Arsenal fan) and Carroll (personal fan) making an impact.

Guess the team at Euro 2012.

Played and lost 3 games, scored 2 goals, and finish with 0 points.

Scotland? England? Andorra? Greece? Ireland? No.

Holland.

Fucking Holland.

Rooney to score first, 2-2 draw = 90/1 on Sky... worth a quid surely?

Italy deserved to win, and they did. Pirlo is a god.

Now we're looking at a Germany vs Spain or Portugal final. Let's be honest, Germany won't be losing to Italy. Or England if they'd gone through.

I'm backing Germany to win the tournament. Easy money.

It was a big weekend in MLS, with the two biggest rivalries in America happening yesterday:

Metro 3-2 DC Scum
The biggest rivalry on the east coast since the league was founded in 1996. You can see it on and off the field today. DC United had the chance to sign Brandon Barklage to a new contract in the last offseason. United would score off their first possession, but the next 44 minutes and 30 seconds would be what manager Hans Backe would describe as "the best half since I got here." They decided not to, and the new left back made them pay with two goals in the first half. Metro would go up 3-1 with a well executed counter and some poor defending. United hit back with a consolation goal when Roy Miller lost his mark.

Portland Timbers 2-1 Seattle Sounders
The biggest rivalry on the west coast. These teams have history going back to their founding in the late 60s, but only meet in MLS for the 2nd year (Porland moved up from the 2nd division last year, 2 years after Seattle did the same).

The Table - top 5 from each group make the playoffs
Eastern
Metro - 30 pts (16 matches)
DC United - 30 pts (17 matches)
Sporting Kansas City - 29 (15)
Chicago Fire SC - 24 (15)
Houston Dynamo - 20 (15)
Columbus Crew - 19 (14)
New England Revolution - 18 (15)
L'Impact du Montreal - 18 (16)
Philadelphia Union - 11 (13)
Toronto FC - 5 (13)

Western
San Jose Quakes 33 (16)
Real Salt Lake 32 (17)
Vancouver Whitecaps FC 26 (16)
Seattle Sounders FC 25 (16)
LA Galaxy 20 (16)
Colorado Rapids 19 (15)
CD Chivas de Los Angeles 19 (16)
Portland Timbers 16 (14)
FC Dallas 14 (17)

Spain.

They play shit all tournament then come out in the final and make history. Alba's goal was stunning. The run was sensational, the pass was perfect and the finish was deadly.

Well done Torres for the third.
