Perfect Government

There have been alot of topics about governments and what's wrong with them. So I'm going to ask: What's your idea of a perfect government? Please take this seriously and don't put something stupid or impossible in today's world. Meaning don't say the perfect government would be the one where everyone gathered together to vote on every law, because unless you have less than 1000 people that's just not going to happen.

Governments are composed of people, and since people are imperfect, so then must be government. There is no perfect government, and which form is better than another largely depends on your values.

Wasn't it Winston Churchill who said something along the lines of, Democracy sucks, it just sucks less than everything else?

I think the quote was "Democracy is the worst form of government apart from anything else that has been tried".

"You can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please all of the people all of the time." - Someone...

I choose a bad name, what i mean is the best government you know of. Like maybe you enjoy different ideas from different countries and you think if they were put together they would be the best government so far.

benevolent dictatorship, if you like, but still one guy or a small group of advisers who attempt to make the right decisions and the rest of the people get on with their lives without paying any attention to politics beyond the satirists.

I think some of the Scandinavian countries, Sweden for example.

High electoral turnout and enthusiastic involvement in politics, commitment to a workable welfare state supported by fair but adequate taxation (i.e. not necessarily less tax = better)... They're government seems to be really working to reduce their fossil fuel and nuclear consumption ( I think they're on course to phase out their dependence on foreign oil in 15 years)... Foreign policy wise they have a strong defence force but keep to a policy of non-alignment whilst supporting the EU and the UN. The only thing I disagree markedly with is conscription.

A healthy balance between socialism and a market economy, although in a perfect world my emphasis would be on the socialism.

screw governments, can't we manage ourselves?

That's my opinion. We can take care of ourselves.

Republican form of Government, similar to Democracy, but people vote to have representatives of their area (like the US has). It worked for Rome for Centuries, and worked for the US.

Providing a Government is Democratic and Secular then it is likely to be as good as we will ever get.

One more thing to say, No alcohol! (The one thing that would ruin my life from angry mobs)

The best thing would be the simplicity of it all and the lack of political B.S.
