If you had to live by yourself for a year in a remote area of the world and you got a million dollars if you survived, what three things would you bring. and why.

I would bring a utility knife- they always come in handy
a hatchet-to cut down larger trees
my hiking Boots-nothing is better than knowing you can jump on a pointy rock and not even feel it

I'd go with machete, for obvious, all-purpose reasons,
a lot of plastic transparent wrap along with a large cup, because that is how you make water without salt if you combine a couple of sticks, a rock, and the sun 8)
