gay - is it ok?

Postby Simonov on Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:03 pm

another one of my controversial topics. but is an interesting subject definitely.

i hear many people say homosexuality is inborn to one, and u can do nothing about it - it's "the way you're made". i don't believe this, i think our childhood and personal choice have much to do with this. but in the light of the first argument one can consider homosexuality to be a disease (or better said disorder, disease sound too dreadful) in biological sense - since it prevents main reason of our biological existence -> procreation . in social sense this "disorder" poses no problem since they are as valuable individuals, good people, members of their communities etc.

we all tend to be open-minded and say: gay is ok. but do we practice that in life. first time i was in company of homosexual my liberal beliefs slowly melted - i really felt uneasy despite my attempt to behave normal. you have nothing in common to talk about with them (u know the usual stuff - football, politics etc). what i really dislike is their effeminate behavior - those girlie voices, way they walk, move ... i really can't stand that (i don't care if they f*ck each other in the ass in private but try to act like a man in public, and they have to parade their sexuality everywhere they go - at least a part of them). so i try to avoid them in long circles. i will never have good friend who's gay nor i want to - and i would probably distance myself from a friend who would turn out to be gay, but i would tolerate if a family member was gay (blood connections come before anything to me).

am i a biggot then, and a homophobe?

write your views on this subject.

Siminov, it's okay. Admit you love my firm buttocks.

Edit: On a serious note... I don't have any at all problem with most homosexuals.

I however, do not appreciate the more 'flamboyant' ones.

Of course its OK.
Anyone who says otherwise is a bigoted neanderthal.
Its been around since we first walked the planet, and will be around for ever.
And, bearing in mind the global population explosion, maybe its a good thing that humans have a small check on procreation.

Slightly uncomfortable, but not that many around here. They tend to head to the big cities alot.

Is the summer they migrate to such temperate locations as paris and baltimore, however once it gets colder the homosexuals return to their native latin and north african homelands.

I hear what you're saying. Fear of the "other" is a powerful emotion.
I had a few full on experiences in a gay pub in Brighton that left me uneasy.
But the great thing about human beins, is that we can assert our rationality and will, and if you do feel uneasy, just remind yourself that you're being a nob.

Gays are fine, anyone who doesn't think so is a complete bigot. However, its annoying when your at the club and they start trying to grind you.

Oh, just actually read your post.

Not all gay people are that noticeably gay. There are one or two people I met who I would never have guessed were gay - one was a staunch Afrikaaner farmer, a real Boer, tough guy, the kind that would tackle you and leave you broken in a game of rugby and not effeminate in any way. Anyway, he was very gay.

well I fell uncomfortable too if that makes you happy. I know that it's OK, that they have a choice, and so on, and I respect that.

Maybe what I'm about to say now is gonna sound a little homophobic:But I always feel that I need to be careful and always watch my ass. :?

Simonov, I think your stereotyping homosexuals here. To say they are all feminine and not into sports or any other things and you will not have anything in common to say to them is un-necessary. Do you have that problem with female company too, maybe thats the reason your on the internet so much ;) Also, not all gays are like that, many have many different interests which you would find out if you weren't so pre-judgemental when you met them.

Exactly. In fact, the only people you actually know are gay are the people that act like that (unless you frequent the gay bar scene...), and guess what, ALL, yes ALL of the gay people I know are nothing like that. The closest is a guy, really really nice, who has a soft but not feminine voice. The others are the complete opposite (bankers, writers, teachers, ect.).

Anyway, you might want to watch a gay porn video... Doubt you'll find feminine men in those, but rather filled with men that could kick your ass in a game of football any day!

Many that I have met actually do meet the stereotype.

Nothing wrong with it. I don't like the ones who brag about being gay though. Homosexuality comes from birth. Maybe you feel uneasy around them. Some feel that way with Muslims because we are at war with them right now.

Thinking it is wrong is like thinking someone black is wrong.

Yes, and all gays I've know meet the stereotype too (and I don't know why but I know at least 10 gay people which is a great number for Croatia  ).

Yes they doo. I know a man who is happily married, has a child (a 21 year old daughter) and recently disclosed himself as homosexual.
Well that was a choice for sure!
