Does Chivalry exist in America?

Chivalry

Postby Chris7He on Sat Nov 17, 2007 7:56 pm

Does anybody believe it exists in America anymore?

I mean true chivalry. Not when you're helping a person to get to heaven or friends with him/her, but just because you are chivalrous. I don't see it anymore.

Don't know about America, but here.... only sometimes. In rare cases.

You know your avatar is kind of ironic to the subject.

I will pledge a chivalrous oath to God (I still won't believe in creationism) to:
Love one girl
Defend God and his teachings
Fight for Right and Good while fighting against Injustice and Evil
Never recoil to an enemy
Perform my duty to my country
Try not to lie and be faithful to my word
Destroy the Infidels (not literally)
Be generous and loving

Fine. Where do you live? I can head over there right now and prepare a duel for us at the local park.

I need your address and street name and general description of the area of the town you live in. Unfortunately, for both of us, I live in Illinois and since I don't like flying, I'll have to take a few days to drive to your house.

This has just got way off topic. Does anybody have any reasonable evidence that chivalry still exists? Barely anyone is nice to me.

A friend in on of my classes is getting a teddy bear with a gold chain around it's neck for his girlfriend... That's romantic, but not necessarily chivalrous...
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

I mean not for someone who is your friend/girlfriend. I wish I could have the monetary funds necessary to purchase a gift for the girl I love.

I random person complimented me for next to no reason the other day.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

Well, that link didn't provide much clarification at all. But I'll work with the following: "I promise to love one and only one girl."

In ALL YOUR LIFE?

WHY WOULD YOU EVEN WANT TO?

Loving many people gives you perspective. I blame all my vast wisdom on loving and losing and loving again.

I mean she's the only one I will give my TRUE love and dedication. There will always be my love for my mom and dad and sister and friends, but I will love Jessica forever (or at least until I die).

Now please don't take this the wrong way, but I just want to know: How old are you?

I'm currently, myself, in a situation where I will presume I will love the same person for the rest of my life. BUT, this is having loved other people, you know, in romantic ways. I've come to understand good love and bad love, healthy love and dysfunctional love.

Still, many people fall in love for the first time and are incredibly happy and in love for the rest of their lives.

I'm not distrusting you, I'm just curious about your circumstance.

Going by historic chivalry, it was basically between nobles/knights only. But for a sense of duty, justice, etc, it depends on what you are looking for. If it is good people that will help others because they want to, or honor, look to those whom are in the Mid West, my state is also known for it's nice people (I have gotten this from people outside of it) and the Cowboys (ones in Wyoming, not talking about the team) really do hold onto treating a lady well and all that other good stuff.
"Eh, whatever."

It's gotten to a point, that the nearest I get to chivalry, is applying the lube before ramming teh poor girls ass.
