Colts by 9

Last matchup between the Bolts and the Colts was right after Indy's loss to the Pats and Manning threw six (6) interceptions and Vinateri missed two chip shot field goals, and S.D. still only squeaked out a win.

The Colts best day blows the Chargers out of the Hoosier Dome

The Colts worst day, and the Chargers only slipped past them.

Manning has been resting, all of his wide receivers are back. Bob Sanders hasn't hit anything all week.

L.T. would have to run for 150+ yards with 3 TDs for the Chargers to have a chance.

I was in attendance at last year's AFC championship game when the Colts beat the Pats in Indianapolis. And yes, the ebay seller made a pretty penny of me for those two seats. The fans were going absolutely apeshit, mostly because it was the Patriots.

Indiana is a funny place. They are rabid about their high school and college basketball. The Pacers (NBA) was the ABA juggernaut when that league was in existence and has had a spirited rivalry with the Knicks when both teams were doing well (remember Spike Lee sideline antics?). Indiana is very small town (cue Mellencamp song here) and the residents and their sports teams have a chip on their shoulder whenever they take on East Coast big city teams.

That being said, I believe that the Colts fans consider the Patriots to be their biggest rivals. The way that the Colts have dominated the AFC South in recent years really doesn't give them a rival in their own division. In the days when both the Colts and the Patriots were in the AFC east together, neither team was doing that well.

I cannot speak for the Patriots/Bean-eaters, but I would probably think that they have little competition in the AFC east presently. The rivalry is not based on geography (Bengals v. Browns/ Browns v. Steelers) or tradition (Green Bay v. Chicago/Washington v. Dallas) or long lasting hatred (Raiders v. Broncos), it is based upon the fact that for the last five years, these two teams have been at the top of the NFL, and there has been significant losses for both teams against the other.

And Bellicheck is just an ass, while Dungy is class.

Manning is small town high school hero who doesn't let fame go to his head, while Brady is knocking up actresses and supermodels.

So, for the short term, it is the biggest rivalry among good teams in the NFL. I would think that since the Yanks/Red Sox is a traditional rivalry stretching back 80+ years and both teams are doing well right now, the baseball rivalry is more significant overall.

If the personnel/ownership changes and the teams still hate each other, it is a good rivalry.

Not all that close, from the fan standpoint. We might not like Peyton and his laser rocket arm, and might know that he can't carry Brady's jock despite being given every possible opportunity to succeed, but we hold way, way too much hate in reserve for the Yankees to even fathom really hating the Colts more than any other football team. We're baseball fans more than any sport, anyways.

Peyton is the most in control quarter back in the NFL. He is cool as a cucumber when he is under pressure.
Dungy is a first class coach. He is the only NFL football coach that I know of that doesn't go berserk on his players. Other coaches could learn a lot from this man.

hmm, well football has become more poplar than any sport over the last 5 years and the tv ratings show this.

i agree the sox and yanks fued is # 1 in sports but baseball is no longer the # 1 sport, football is and has been over last 5 years or so.

last, i would consider peyton manning to be very close comparison to tom brady, so they can hold each others jocks, it is close to me, them 2 are both solid.
