They're all right, not my favorite nor the best, but an alright band nonetheless.

You what?

Oasis aren't even in the same league as the Roses. Their music is so bland and uninspiring and technically they're not even fit to be the Stone Roses' roadies.

Give me the Stone Roses, Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Carter USM, Wedding Present any day of the week.

I'd rather listen to the Bee Gees than Oasis.

I study history and I love the stone roses. My favourites are Fools Gold and Waterfall.

I've got Fools Gold on 12" and it fits quite well into a hip hop / breaks set... it goes really well with Apache (the Amazing Bongo Band version)

To be fair I voted for the second option because I just like to click at what seems funniest.

I never actually heard of them, but I like it after seeing those videos.

Their eponymous album used to be my favourite. Probably still top-10. But then they made Second Coming and the world realised that John Squire was a massive wanker, albeit a brilliant guitarist. Too much ego. It tarnished the whole thing.

I thought the second coming was their best out of the 2..

Ian Brown couldn't sing live, John squire was "too good" and it went to his head...

Shame really, the mixture of reni, manny and squire really went well.

Aye. They were cracking musicians. It was a shame. I think Reni joined primal scream.

Wouldn't call that the best song from them.

The Roses were great. I'm stating the obvious, but their first album is one of the greatest albums of all time.
I wanna be adored is mesmerising, made of stone, bangs the drums, waterfal, ressurection-i forget the others, but its all UTTER class.

But it had some pretty amazing melodies and and such. But that's what Queen was, a more of a singing group then anything.

Seen the Roses in May 88 Just before they released their first album in Norwich Arts Centre of all places. Ian Brown isn't the best live singer but the man certainly has stage presence. One of the best albums of all time. Wasn't all that impressed with the Second Coming considering I had been anticipating it's arrival for 5 years. Saw Ian Brown at the Engine Shed, Lincoln in November. He was excellent and I think his solo stuff is up their with any of the Roses stuff and when he did I am the resurection the crowd went berserk. Time is my everything and F.E.A.R are my favourite Ian Brown tracks.

Then you're a bloody legend kingprawn! my god what an epic gig that must have been.
But they werent in the Smiths league...

The Smiths are indie legends can't believe I never went to see them. My favourite band of that era is the wedding present closely followed by a little known band called the brilliant corners. Seen the weddoes loads of times. David Gedge - still going strong. That was my favourite dress you know!

The Smiths were a really good band, except they had Morrisey singing for them... whingeing Manc twat... and, ok, I know the lyrics were good, but he's still a whingeing Manc twat. Stone Roses, on the other hand, were an all-round awesome band. I agree, the first album was the boy, but Second Coming was still a damn good LP and is still in my top 100 of all time records.

I'm gutted that I've never seen the Roses live, but I've seen Ian Brown live a few times and you're right - he can't sing for shit - but even at his worst he was still a damned sight better the Seahorses (John Squire's solo-career band)...

not quite...
Good as Ian Brown's albums are, the best thing that came from the Roses' split was Manni joining Primal Scream. They were a good band to start with, but from Vanishing Point onwards the Scream have really kicked arse. Now there's a band to see live..!

They are on Bizzaro if my memory serves me correctly, another top album. My favourite on that one is bewitched.
