did anybody see the lunar eclipse ?

i live in connecticut and, it started around 9pm. it wasn't the first time i saw one but, it is always a site to see. pulled out my scope and even saw Saturn and its' rings.
i was living in NYC when Haley's comet went by.
anyone else here think this stuff is cool?

it was supposed to happen at 1:43 A.M where i live. i set my alarm, dragged myself out of bed, opened the window, leaned out as far as i could go to get a good view of the moon... and a giant fucking cloud passed in front of it. -_-

Every time there's a major astronomical event occurring in my area its cloudy and you can't see bugger all (I live in the west coast of Scotland - it rains here a lot!!).
I've religiously missed. A partial eclipse of the sun, two lunar eclipses, a major and a minor meteorite storm, and the closest mars would have been in god knows how long.
I'll take your word for it that it was cool (and that such a thing as "the sky" exists at all!)

I saw it. I even took some pictures. But not having a telescope I only saw the moon and the star, missed saturn.

Shitty about the clouds. It was totally clear where I was last night. Probably the clearest lunar eclipse I've ever seen. I wish I had had a telescope.

It was nice and clear here until about 7:30pm... then it got completely overcast. I saw nothing.

haley's comet passed over in 1997 or 1998.
surely you don't think i was it in the early 1900s

HALE-BOPP came in '97.
I remember seeing that one when I was a lass. Lassyish. Young person.

It was at 3 A.M here and I was actualy up, but i couldnt be arsed to get dressed and have a look from the street. Is that bad?

I went out at 3:15am this morning, but all I saw was clouds. I couldn't even see a single star. Never mind though, I saw the full lunar eclipse last year.
I love looking up at the heavens, every time there's an eclipse or comet or meteor shower forecast I try to see it.

HALE-BOPP:
The most spectacular celestial viewing event of 1997 was the arrival of comet Hale-Bopp in the northern hemisphere. Its closest approach to Earth was on March 22nd, and its closest approach to the Sun (when it was at its brightest) was on April 1st—not to return to Earth again until the year 4397. The comet, designated C/1995 O1, was discovered independently on July 23, 1995, by Alan Hale, New Mexico, and Thomas Bopp, Arizona. It was the farthest comet ever discovered by amateurs, and appeared 1,000 times brighter than comet Halley did at the same distance.
An unprecedented year-long study was made of Hale-Bopp by two NASA observatories—the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Ultraviolet Explorer. Astronomers estimated that it had a monstrous nucleus about 19 to 25 mi in diameter. The average comet is thought to have a nucleus of about three miles in diameter, or even smaller. By comparison, the comet or asteroid that struck Earth 65 million years ago, possibly causing the extinction of the dinosaurs, was probably six to nine miles across.

I think he must like eclipses. The first photos in the album are from a solar eclipse, and then later he has a lunar eclipse, I assume the most recent.
