Can everyone explain what this word means to them as I think the American and British have different meanings for it. I would alss like to hear other english speaking people's view.

It means either a hobo or a slut. Less commonly, a gamin.

I see it as an old female hobo. So mostly a combination of those pictures.

numbers 1 and 3, but I've heard it used as number 2.

A tramp in my neck of the woods means a slut.
If an old person uses the word, it generally means a homeless person... a vagrant.
