It seems to me that the Royal Family and all the trappings are a huge tourist draw. They (The Queen & Prince Charles) are the Mickey & Minnie Mouse of GB.

But I am American, so what do I know. ;)

I accidentally voted against. Why have against on top?

Anyway I had to give a long speech to my class on whether they are good or not and there are many benefits to the negatives.

I decided I wasn't going to say it, but I'm glad someone did.

I'd assume he's against and put his favorite choice on top.

nothing was meant by putting Against as first choice

Basically we pay a lot of money to have a bunch of people who go to visit other countries and smile and wave because they were born into a certain family.

I think there is quite a lot wrong with that.

You lose the Monarchy, you lose the Commonwealth.
That means losing important ties with Australia, Canada, India and the others.

Also, she can ditch the British Government at any time she wishes.
Jeremy Clarkson wrote: Having the willpower not to get rid of those babbling lunatics in Government, even for fun, must take great strength.

I agree with that. In fact, If I were king, on 1st April I'd say:
"Right! That's it! Off with the lot of you! You're fired!"
Now that would be the ultimate April Fools Prank!

Shit. Have I already given my anti-monarchy rant? Balls, I was looking forward to using words like PARASITES, LIVING ANACHRONISMS, POINTLESS-YET-HARMFUL-TO-A-VISION-OF-AN-EGALITARIAN-SOCIETY,DESCENDANTS OF MURDERERS AND THIEVES, WHO MAKE THIS COUNTRY LOOK LIKE AN ABSOLUTE JOKE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD.

Damn. I'm getting predictable*

*a predictably annoying little Suggs star to make some facetious, comment- ending "one liner". How predictable.

Yes, how have they coped over the last two hundred years. Hah! On the one hand you have the UK, a relatively prosperous, 2nd/3rd rate global power, with political stability, and on the other you have the French who have...

Oh yes, THE SAME. Except they have better food, women*, drink, live longer, greater sense of civic pride, AN INDEPENDANT FOREIGN POLICY.

God they are fools. Bring back Loius and the boys-they'd sort that Frenchie mess out.
More cake, anyone?

Another reason for me to vote against the monarchy.

I have to disagree here. Dutch women look as good as Italian women when they're young and a whole lot better when they get older. Plus, they do everything and they're against their mothers ruling your life. And they don't have an uncle Luigi with hitman connections.

That is somewhat ironic from a native of a country with George Bush as its Head of State.

Not at all ironic. Bush might a pea brained pillock- but they can, and must (that old amendment which i always forget, you know the two term limits for a single President) get rid of him.

We're stuck with our personal pea brain until her body finally realises that Ma'am Brain has long since departed.
