Jon Lester No-Hitter

Jon Lester threw a no-hitter tonight for the Red Sox against the Kansas City Royals. He walked two batters and struck out nine. What makes it an even better accomplishment is that Lester was treated for cancer last season and missed most of the year and was uncertain whether he would ever pitch again. Lester also was the winning pitcher in game 4 of the World Series last year. I just wanted to share the story of Lester over coming the illness as a source of inspiration for everyone.

and i am very happy for Lester, but hate the fact that the Red Sox had to win. sonnuvabitch!
on the other hand, anyone remember the PERFECT GAME that David Wells pitched? or, hey, David Cone, for that matter?
and what team were they on?
hmm, that's right, the team that is way more awesome than the Red Sox.
a boo yeah.

Hey, how are Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy doing this year? Don't they have the same number of wins that I do?
But anyway, this wasn't meant to be a Red Sox vs Yankees thread, this was more a celebration of Lester's perserverence and talent.

It's all good, except for the Lester to the Yankees bit. Just curious, shouldn't you be a Phillies fan? being that you are from Philly after all?

That game was so fuckin awesome Lester pwned. You know Varitek become the first catcher in MLB history to catch 4 no hitters? That's incredible.

I didn't watch it. I only heard about it this morning on NPR. Generally I am a Yankee fan, although my cousin did marry and then became herself an Red Sox fan. So with that in mind.

WAY TO GO Jon Lester!
Oh and those other players who managed to put 7 points on the score board deserve some praise.
As I said before I am generally a Yankee fan. That means we sit around and wonder why people who are supposedly good and well paid can't even win the game. I'm glad to see someone around here actually knows how to play the game!

The game was pretty awesome, I agree. Equally awesome--Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek has now caught 4 no-hitters, more than any other catcher. An odd stat, but an interesting one nonetheless.

Big whop! No hitting the Royals is the equivalent to giving up 10 hits against the Yankees.

Yeah, Wang pitched a 1-hitter against the mighty Sox themselves!
