You could try, I know some Jiu-Jitsu myself. From arm bars, to neck cranks, to the triangle choke. Plus, I'd rather do MMA.

Mixed Martial Arts. You fight until either the match is over, someone is knocked out, tapped out, or unable to continue. In short, the UFC.

Not exactly. All it really is, is pitting someone like say, Chuck Liddel, whom is a great kick boxer who has some training in ground fighting against, Ken Shamrock, whom is versed in stand up fighting, but is more at home ground fighting (and slamming people) due to his wrestling (kind you do in college, etc.).
Here's wiki's article on it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts It is also known as Vale Tudo.

No doubt about it, the Gracie's are legends. That said, there are some inherint disadvantages to Jui Jitsu because of it's emphasis on ground fighting. For MMA or a one on one fight Jui Jitsu may be the best thing around but in a street fight, where there are more than one people fighting against you, the ground is not the place to be.
IE you may have just broke one guys arm, but it didn't stop his friend from stomping on your throat.
Play nice everyone.

You don't have to take it to the ground, there are plenty of submission moves you can use standing up, not to mention using against more then one person. Besides, part of Jiu Jitsu is the throw (or in my case, slamming people down on the ground).

I still hold to what I said. Even if you are standing up and you manage to pull off some kind of submission it leave you exposed to multiple attackers. The emphasis of Jui Jitsu is ground fighting and the throws are basicaly a quick way to get there. For a fair fight Jui Jitsu is great but most fights aren't fair.
A fighter with a more traditional striking background is better suited to handle a street fight unless he has his Jui Jitsu buddies to back him up.
