What's Your Favorite Kind of Rammen Noodle?

My all time favorite kind of Rammen noodle is Creamy Chicken. I boil my noodles and always drain them, then I stir in the packets and I douse it with Tabasco Sauce! Then I eat it with chopsticks! Yum!

But regardless of what flavor, I have to drain the water out of my noodles first and put the packets on after, and always have Tabasco on them...then my obsessive compulsive takes over and I must use chopsticks with noodles all the time! It is just easier for me to eat than with a fork (and a lot more fun!)

Now, when I was on the Hopi Reservation, I learned to eat Rammen Noodles out of the package dry! Just sprinkle the packet on your crunchy noodle bundle as you ate it. That is how the Hopis ate their noodles, it was a cheap easy snack for the kids...

So wait, the Hopi's imported Ramen AND chopsticks from Japan BEFORE the US ever controlled the Mid West?

Anyways, for packets, I like Pork (you forgot that one!) and for cupped, I like beef. I also like the broth, just let's it have more flavor and stays hotter longer.

No, but apparently they must have been speaking Spanish before the Spanish showed up! (According to McCain...what a loser)

Go to a grocery store, go to the soups section, and look for the noodles. Here's what they look like.

Looks a bit too much like a Pot Noodle to me - instant pasta with powdered sauce. I don't buy a lot of convenience food.

It is an Asian-like noodle that is easily rehydrated with boiling water, then you add a flavoring broth packet to make a soup, or you can drain off the water and mix in the packets for a flavorful noodle treat! However, they are very high in carbs.

But your best friend if you are a college student, or simply poor for other reasons.

I like Oriental flavor and also Shrimp Lime Chile (most beloved flavor among Mexican day laborers!)

Thai Kitchen brand has the little oil packets. Also, the noodles are rice noodles and the flavors are more nuanced. They're definitely a higher quality pot noodle... which is why they cost $1 instead of 14 cents.

NO, Pot Noodles are the slag's ugly mate of snacks.

You know, when you go out on the pull with your mate, and you say "I don't fancy MINE much". That's the slag. The one you want your mate to get off with is the pot noodle.

Doesn't matter, I don't like the flavors - I'll either take a dry pack and crunch my way to heaven, or I'll cook it and just add salt and butter.... mmm....

That is quite interesting. I bet that would be good...perhaps sauteing your butter and salt with some garlic and white wine and a little lemon juice? That would make a good scampi sauce! Yum! I will have to try it.

I used to live on this in korea - if you break an egg into it as you take it off the heat, it thickens up something lovely... and it's spicy enough too.

I guess you have never been an American college student??

Seriously, I cook from scratch, but with kids ... it is nice to have something quick, CHEAP and at least marginally nutritious. Ramen are rather high in fat, but overall top in all three, when you get into convenience foods.

I figure 90% of the time my kids get fresh steamed (barely steamed) or fresh veggies, homemade pasta w. homemade sauces, homemade breads and such .... a few convenience noodles won't kill them ... : )

(besides I can remember as a child, I traded my sandwiches with homemade bread and jam for Welches Jelly on white bread ... and looked forward to visits with grandma where we got CANNED veggies, not those silly frozen kind my folks stored from their garden. )

As a ramen connoisseur, I approve of almost all of the flavors. I cook them with egg and melt cheese over the top. They are also good with mushrooms, green onion, and tofu (a clean out the fridge meal gone horribly right). Sadly, I don't think I'll have any kidneys by the time I get past 30 years old.
