Gordon Brown - UK prime minister - FAILS - HAHAHA

I feel SO ELATED this morning.
Mr Gordon Brown, foolish idiot and liar of a Prime Minister in the UK has just had s++t wiped all over his face.
He has lost one of the safest seats the labour party held and has held for SIXTY YEARS!!
FINALLY people appear to have woken up to the fact that the majority of 'news' we have been fed from this bunch - Blair and Brown has been lies lies lies.
I LOOK FORWARD to a return of decent government.
I trully hope that Barrack gets in for the US and we get Cameron. Then the western world might have a chance of resolving the mess that their predecessors have got us into - - Bush and Blair appeared hell bent on making this the most dangerous world possible.
I look forward to the icing on the cake. Blair and Bush being indicted for War Crimes, and for betraying their position of power by treating THEIR citizens with disdain, disregard and complete ignorance.
its a GOOD DAY.
DD
PS - - Not that it should matter, but i am a white, tax paying, Uk born and bred. My comments, i feel will be appraised positively by many different socio economic groups.

It astonishes me that this has not yet been moved to Chatterbox. And can you give us a link to some newspaper article so we can get some details?

I'll comment..
Your the kind of person who would have voted for Neville Chamberlain and you probably believe that there is a potential for peace in our time. We live in an imperfect world and we need a realistic, not idealistic, approach to dealing with the world's problems.

Anyone bringing a piece of paper home with Hitler's signature on it would have got the shitty end of the stick. Not that I'm defending Neville. The problem with Blair/Brown is the fact that things over here are getting worse, almost on a daily basis. So what does Brown do to elleviate the financial stress for us normal workers? He abolishes the lowest tax rate, so now I pay more tax, and he says I will be better off. Brilliant way to get my vote.
I'm watching the news as I type and household fuel bills are set to go up 22%. Something has got to change, so start at the top.

So: when would you consider the last time the UK had "decent government"?

Interesting answer - but I was specifically asking Dangerous Die, as he was looking for a return to good government.

Sorry
Personally I would say the early Thatcher years, but that is in my time frame, and I wasnt old enough to vote until '88. For earlier governments, I have to rely on reading material and my parents, none of which are particularly unbiased.

Well thats fine with the English, we get rid of the most draining section of the UK and a guarantee that Labour will never get back to power.... will never happen though because there are far too many canny Scotts who know they are on to a good thing at the moment and wont fancy queueing up behind Lithuania for EEC cash.

how the scots do by ourselfs is another debate, but if labour sink, there is no way on earth the tories could get a vote here, the majority hate them,if your of a certain age we remember getting tested for the poll tax,so its just a fact that if the tories win in england the snp will do likewise in scotland

In answer to some qquestions.
1) i do believe that the middle Thatcher years were supreme - ( i am 34) - i remember when she was ousted and thinking - goodness - a MAN is walking into 10 Downing Street in charge.
The Iron Lady stood in many ways for what WAS British.
2) - I am disgusted that Scotland should be able to in effect remove itself from Britain. I hate the fact that we have a Scottish Prime Minister and Defence Secretary, however - i DO feel that the Scots are our brothern, much more so than they do us. We are all part of the UNITED KINGDOM and that should never be forgotten. I know i contradict myself in that answer (ie not liking that we are governed by a Scot, but I would prefer it that way and remain UK than in effect have dilution of our country.
However, if the SNP do end up 'owning' Scotland and governing themselves then so be it. - I believe there should not just be a vote in Scotland on this subject i believe all the UK should be in the vote - and i would vote NOT to allow further devolution. BUT, if it comes - fine - but there should be NO - ZERO - NIL - public money collected ANYWHERE else in the UK goint into Scotland. Both the SNP and PC in Wales seem to forget that without tax collected in England they would have almost no income. Unless all of a sudden the tourist money they collect has taken a marked upturn that i am not aware of.
3) - ref Qutoing dangerous world - yes - LOL - no pun intended....

So what if the SDP win every seat in Scotland , not gonna affect England so why would we care.

Thatcher was a strong leader but a terrible bitch. Hopefully she'll be dead soon.
You are deluded if you think cameron is going to change anything. We are facing a global recession. That's not brown's fault - what IS his fault is all the credit he took when things were going well. 'no more boom and bust,' all that bollocks. It meant he can't now shift the blame for the shitty times onto someone else, no matter how unfair that is. And he's been pisspoor as a leader, too.
And anyway, the days of thatcher vs kinnock, of proper ideological separation between the parties, are long gone. Cameron is very much like blair, as a character and an ideologue. He'll be the next PM, not because he particualrly deserves it or would be much good, but because he isn't labour. That's the way these days.
