Either way it's all a massive waste of money. I'm not sure of the situation in the US, but I assume it would be similiar. The Australian Institute of Sport spent about $50,000,000 for every gold medal for the last Olympics. Plently of other more important things to spend that money on besides 'gold medals'

Also for the entire two weeks China will become a massive beacon with a giant target on it's head for people who like blowing shit up - can't say i'll be too sadden if that does happen, but whatever
