Computer Problem :/

So I do not know shiz when it comes to computers
So I use Firefox and I kept getting messages last night saying "IE has indicated it is not your primary internet brower" and a box popped up saying "Do you want to perform this search each time IE is started" Which is weird because I have not used IE for a few months now.
So I decided to uninstall IE because this was pissing me off..
Then earlier today boxes just started to appear and IE opened itself 50+ times and I closed them and a few minutes later it would do it again, I have ran multiple virus scans but nothing is turning up
Any idea whats going on?

while you are at it, shut down system restore then reopen it.
I bet you are still infected.
Run spybot, ad-aware anf if those dont find anything, DL CCleaner and Spyware doctor.
I had HELL going on in my pc not long ago and it took all of those to find everything that caused havoc.

1. It's not a virus, you just set firefox as the default browser.
2. How did you "uninstall" IE?
3. What else have you done recently to the computer (browsers, internet software, system settings)

The only feasible solution is to store all your valuables (documents, music, video, whatever) on an external HD and pop in the Windows XP/Vista CD to perform a format & fresh install. Don't forget to scan the external HD for viri and other crap before you copy stuff back to your freshly installed machine.

It's like windows, except free and fucks up less. As long as you don't give it a wireless internet connection to play with...

Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer are now 1 and the same thing. If you removed internet explorer, then you wouldn't be able to open up "My Computer" or "My Documents" or "My Pictures" because there wouldn't be an application installed to explore those folders.
