f*ck presidential race and and american politics, for once we get to talk about British politics and the best priminister.

1. Sir Winston Churchill: Simply won the war, enough said.

2. Margaret Thatcher: A controversial choice, i rate her at number 2 because she gave the right to buy, was tough (why people called her the iron lady), protected the falklands, if churchill was not there she would easily have been number 1.

3. Clement Atlee: Started the NHS, a free healthcare system where you could get any treatment/operation for free if you were a GB citizen and paid taxes, while it is flawed today it is still a great idea and one that definately deserves a place in my top 3.

I think you are about right Brooks.

All key in shaping our national character.

Thatcher is of course the most controversial, she is the demon we hold responsible for all social ills.
Britain could not be as it is without her influence ... some good, some very bad! Much like the influence of our parents, we blame her for the bad and take credit for the good.

anyway the woman became slightly insane with the arrogance of her quest.. i suppose leaders need a touch of the ego-maniacal in order to keep on the hardest path.
Not sure Churchill was corrupted to be honest.. he was too much aware of his place in history.. and the ephemeral nature of History itself.
