I've read that and it's a disgrace, those teens should be shown to the public.

That's sickening. I could believe it if one person did that but a whole group! That is one of the worst things I have ever heard.

Can't you actually press charges for something like that?

You sure can... and in this case (and if that article is even remotely accurate...) I hope that charges are pressed against all those who acted in the disgusting fashion which it describes.

Even if he had survived the fall, I would of expected them to stab him to death.

The parents of the guy can sue every single family, by pressing charges for police obstruction. Plus their are tons of witnesses, and the jury would be disgusted, so there should be almost no threat of dead kids parents losing.

So, they'd privately sue them in the civil courts, for a tort that doesn't exist, then there would inexplicably be a jury in that courtroom despite it being a civil action not based around slander or defamation?

In the future I will be calling you Lord Justice William18 of the Bailey, QC.

Facetiousness aside: You have seriously muddled a load of random legal terminology there. This really would be best suited to being kept as a criminal matter (aidding and abetting / inciting a suicide) and while a civil action could be launched by the family (i.e. the family could 'sue')it wouldn't be based around obstructing the police, as that wouldn't give them a good/feasible cause of action and it would be hard for them to quantify 'damages' at the end. In other words, they'd sue for completely different reasons, as your original idea would be a really shit way of going about a civil action in this instance.

Ugh... more signs of people being really, really stupid, which truly is the source of all horrible cruelty in the world.

You'll have to forgive william18... I think he's also from America; we sue everyone for everything here. In fact, I believe it's the standard way of settling any and all disputes.

The full story, that Fox seems to be getting its story from, is here.

One interesting quote: "'He was the joker and smiled all the time. He was so funny and everyone knew him because he was so popular." Were these kids the sort that felt oppressed by the "popular" people? (when they were really only "unpopular" themselves because they were assholes)

Thank you for the title, Sir Mustard.

Anyway, I assume your system is much different, which is why it didn't make any sense.

It made a lot of sense actually... Why would civilians be able to sue for damages not related to them (being police obstruction)?

This happens in NYC on occasion. Not to that degree, but the occasional passerby will shout, "jump", to someone on the ledge. It's pretty well documented.

I can't recall every hearing about a gang of shitheads yelling at a victim though. Usually they would be dragged away by an officer on the ground, or told to shut the f*ck up by a bystander. That's why they seem to do it as they walk past the scene. Most New Yorkers just don't even care though. Just go on about their business.

Sad that happened. The kids that yelled are assholes and I hope they get their comeuppance soon.

Seriously though, I knew this lady who jumped about 60 feet from a building, bounced back about 6 feet in the air and survived!

The beauty about it was, that me and my mate had actually been working on her for a while, slowly depressing her by calling her a fat bitch, and generally bullying her and shitting on her bed and stuff. The point was, that me and my mate once had a bet about whether a falling carcass bounces over 3 feet, of course I was right in saying it did.

Anyway, I had a couple of schooners that night with the 10 dollars I won in the bet, and got laid later when i went to see her badly mutilated body in hospital. I turned off the life support machine afterwards, and that was that.

That's why it was sickening. One person well unfortunately that's not uncommon. but a group like that? that's what pisses me off.

Having read that story it seems really sad that such a bright talented individual did such a thing, im not ashamed to say there were times in my past where i contemplated it and was close to doing it, but that people goaded him on is stupid. if i was a police man there, id have f*cking pepper sprayed them.

Yeah, the human mind can jump around around between thousands of concepts in a minute... Just thinking about something isn't really significant in any way.
