Prostitution

Sex is the most natural thing in the world so I really cannot understand why it is illegal to earn money for providing sexual services to sad and ugly people.

Nothing wrong with it. In fact, I don't understand why prostitutes are considered immoral while women who marry old people just for their money are fine. At least the prostitutes are honest about their intentions.

On a serious note, I think you're absolutely right.

What right have we to dictate what people can do with their own bodies, and what consenting adults can do between one another? What's the difference between two strangers having sex, and two strangers having sex then exchanging money? Why is one fine and the other prohibitied? It's complete madness.

If people wish to make money by selling their time and affections to others, then why shouldn't they be allowed to do so? Anti-prostitution laws are just throwbacks to a long-gone age of Victorian prudishness and over-regulation.

Well, sex is a good thing. You know how the government doesn't like good things.

I tend to agree.
If you legalise it: you remove the ponces, help the heroin addicts out of their downward spiral and enforce an age limit so young girls are not exploited as easily.

By legalising it you can commit more resources to the genuinely destructive aspects to the sex trade.

I agree. it should be legalised. When ever I'm surfing for porn, I'm amazed at how many pissing websites there out there. If a bloke really gets off on having a slash over some birds charlies, then let him do it with someone else, for a price, instead of asking your wife to agree to it and having to sleep on a damp smelly mattress.
(disclaimer - I'm not a golden shower fantasist)

And of course it would annoy all those fat ugly women who resent other people getting a bit.

How is that relevant, a silly law is a silly law regardless of what a particular gender might think.

Dude, I'll go into business as a man whore. My fee schedule will be based on the woman's weight. If they can afford the extra food, they can afford the extra charge for my meat.

This could make all the fat ugly women happy!!! It could make me rich!!!

I am all for it. Where do I vote?

I suppose that is true Comic but perhaps most ladies here (assuming that prostitutes make up a very small proportion of female CC users.) may feel that legalising prostitution would demean womankind as a hole.
And that for the sum of humanity to perceive it as ok to think of any woman purely sexually, has an overall negative effect.
They could feel that this outweighs any positives for their illegalised sisters.

That is a decent argument, though i do still think it flawed.

Are you sure you don't mean 'whole'? Though to be honest, with you it could be either.. :)

And the question Pimpdave put to women is hardly an irrelevant one comic, since our gender is the one being exploited, the one that is often forced into under-age sex, the one having to deal with the pimps, the lifestyle, the stigma and those 'fat, ugly men' you talked about.

So yes, since the demand is never going to cease, then the only sensible thing to do, in my humble opinion, is to not force it underground. These women need protection and I see no other way to achieve that other than legalisation.

On a lighter note...looking forward to your trip to Thailand are you? :)

I personally am all gung ho for anything that will spread my retched disease. Illegal prostitutes, legal prostitutes, low rent porn stars, rapists, unrestricted teenagers, and people that believe that condoms are a thing of the past. Then there is a whirlwind of despairing spike rs, base heads, huff rs, wino's, lid heads, coke babies, and pill poppers that I should also be giving my acknowledgments. These are the types of people that I surround myself with to keep my spirits uplifted and my future brightened with optimism.

I know your trying to bait me ("the first step in avoiding a trap is knowing about it's existance"--Thufir Hawat, DUNE), so I'm going to pretend that I didn't read this drivel.

And that is all, repeat, all, that I have to say on the matter.

legalize and tax seems to be alright in my opinion. Clearly there are ways that it can be done to promote the most safety toward the women involved and their clients, which would have to be a concern to anyone who was involved. But much like most moral issues, this clearly isnt something i would want to be done federally.

There was this comic, unfortunately i haven`t saved it, went something along the lines of:

Consensual sex - legal
Offering meals/houses/etc in order to get consensual sex - legal
Offering cash in order to get consensual sex - illegal and immoral, you pervert
Offering cash in order to get other people to have consensual sex and then filming and selling it - legal

Makes perfect sense, doesn`t it?
