It is nice to see that the markets are actually reacting positively (Can you hear the sarcasm?) to our new President Elect...

3:16 pm and The DOW is at -372.
3:47 pm -468.

Call me crazy but are not the Senate and House already controlled by the Dem.'s for the last two years? Just wanted to point that out for those that are blaming our current President over the current economic crisis.

You know he is sitting in the White House now, sitting back, relaxing, and smiling, just waiting for it to be over with.

Let's see... 8 years of Bush, 6 of Rep Congress, but the last 2 gave us a Democratic Congress...

Yep, definitely HAS to be the last 2 years causing it all ... After all, Economic policies work immediately, don't they?

The crisis is due to deregulation and a combination of blind arrogance and outright greed on the part of money shufflers.

Please ignore the piece of legislation named Sarbanes-Oxley that is one of the most restrictive and encompassing pieces of legislation EVER passed on businesses...Oh yeah, everyone has IGNORED that vvery important fact. Deregulation occured under Clinton. That was the mistake, allowing banks and broker/dealers to merge.

When you say you are going to tax businesses and people more, it is better to be in cash. That is why the sell off occured. Taxing HURTS profits. Basic economic fact. But anyone who knows anything abou tth emarket....doesn' t bother to look at one day numbers.

The first 6 years were wonderful for each of my businesses. The last two have been steadily getting worse. For me the proof is in our net worth and growth of our businesses not what someone declares what they think the problems are. Higher taxes next year will come and it will halt new growth. Our economy unfortunately is based on spending money and people stop buying when they are worried. Perhaps the attitudes will change and creditors will start lending again. I will not be starting a new business that has been in the works for 3 years that would have created 122 new jobs, since it's obvious from his past statements of what he plans to do. The proposed rate hikes for some like me will mean we will just wait for a better time. Hopefully I will be wrong.

Actually, its the normal reaction to a very bad economy. The previous blip was an exception, due to elation over the presidency as well as a cooincidental small rally (forget the term .. things don't go down forever).
