[AT] Conquer Map Marathon Cup - Completed

Hi Everyone! Tournament Directors Group is proud to bring the first of a kind Auto-Tournament to you!

Before going further I want to thanks xroads who came with the idea & Razorvich who helped me and made this banner =D>
I also want to thanks bigWham who participate and sponsorized with prizes and injected 11,000 credits.


Now and because this will be a fully 1v1 automated tournament the setup has been already mentioned into the public page and of course you won't need to post here for signing in, just join the tournament and wait it to be full.

The basics are each player will stay all rounds and plays those 242 maps (Live map only, No Beta nor Special Event maps), map bulk per time of release order, all settings to be randomly chosen by the computer therefore, please, don't shoot the messenger here...I won't be able to control that action ;)
Settings that has not been included are Trench, Unlimited & Adjacent to allow the tournament to run within a 10 to 11 months period at the most.
Of course each player should know that the game loading to be 11 games per round, each new round won't start until the ongoing round has all games completed.

On top of the prize list, I added a GA medal for:
Each player who wins 150 games throughout the whole tournament.
Each player who wins 2 consecutive round by 11-0 (not valid if against a deadbeat opponent)
Each player who wins 3 rounds by 11-0 within the whole tournament (not valid if against a deadbeat opponent)


For this first edition there isn't a medal since we are testing the crowd and see if this tournament becomes popular enough to make it as a yearly event that could have its own Medal (winner of this edition will retro-actively receive that medal if it does happen in the future).

This thread can be use by anyone to post comment, suggestion and/or just blabla about this tournament, I will use it as well to mention updates and comment about, I hope, the smooth running of it.

Mad, you're way off, this will run 2 years at least if you must wait for all games to finish each round to fully complete. Not the end of the world, but let's not start with a completely false premise.

Depends on who we get for players. 1 slow player will really slow things up.

10-11 months makes a round every 2 weeks, not too bad since they are 1 vs 1.

What is your plan for replacements? People will inevitably disappear. Will each of their opponents get 11 free wins for the rest of the tournament?

Why should whether or not there will be future editions of this tournament determine whether or not a Tournament medal will be awarded. This tournament meets all the requirements to be eligible for a tournament medal by a long shot. Thus it should award one.

Even with reasonable paced players, which surely not all 100 people would be, a round is 550 games. The odds of them all concluding in 2 weeks even with reasonable players seems very low to me. At least some % of each round will be close and take a while.... or said another way, it only takes 1 game out of 550 per round to go 3-4 weeks to make each round go closer to a month.

Let's see how this work, there is way to work behind the scene if the case comes up.

You think a year of Premium & a green star (which worth 2500 credits) for the winner isn't enough? That is 6,000 credits to win this tournament.

I also think there should be a special medal for this event. It is very hard to be the first out of 100 players after 242 games played.

Maybe Conquer Cup medal should be awarded, name similarity with Conquer Cup is obvious (Conquer Map Marathon Cup).

Also, why (1 Points per Game) is not written for round 6? does that round has special scoring? I also dont see point in writing 1 Point per game everywhere, aren't anyway games worth 1 point always?

Also I suggest to play versus 11 DIFFERENT opponents, so that someone who gets opponent who left the site doesn't receive 11-0 free points but that 11 different players receive 1-0.

I like this idea because as people drop you can just let them go. So in latter rounds one might play the same player for a couple of games (11 games each time) but you don't have to worry about rotation because the person is gone. If they default you just plug in opponents. (I don't think that is totally clear but if you like the premise, I will flesh out how it works.

I would also add, it would be nice extending the draw to 122 players and make draw not totally random but semi-random, that everybody plays every other player twice = 2*121 = 242 games. So nobody will then be more or less lucky with the draw as everybody would have the same draw.

Also win strike of 50 is impossible, even 20 in a row win strike will not be achieved by anyone, I can guarantee that. I suggest to make it one whole batch of 11 wins in a row for getting GA medal, everything more than that is impossible to achieve by anyone so there is not point to have GA medal so hard that nobody will win it.

So another words they arent going to go through the trouble of designing & implementing a new medal if no one signs up for the tourney. If people sign up, play it goes well, there will be a new medal and it will be awarded for this tourney as well.

Not sure about you but I'm fairly confident I could win 50 games ;) I don't see it say win 50 consecutive games. To me a win strike of 50 means winning 50 games across the whole tournament - maybe I misunderstood.

Edit: also agree 122 players makes perfect sense - play everyone twice.

josko, good idea for player amount, I adjusted it to 122, I also corrected the round 6 miss, it shows now the "1 point per game".

Now as far playing against 11 different players, im not sure how it will work to be honest, remember this is a first of kind and will have to see if anything can be change for the next edition if any.

To all, as far the GA medal, remember GA meant General Achievement! This medal should be reserve for "spectacular" results or special win pattern/condition, I've seen since I join the TD group that some instance a GA medal was given for kind of easy scenario. The GA medal condition should be such that not several player can achieve it otherwise tell me where is the "spectacular" action? I've seen weird things since I joined CC and seems to me that nothing is impossible :D
Therefore this tournament has 2 scenario:

1) win 150 games out of the 242 and you will get one (62% win)
2) win 50 consecutive games and you get one.

I hope I clarify all those questions so far...I want to say that I appreciate the feedback.

The 150 games is definitely achievable, but the 50 consecutive seems unrealistic, so they are definitely at odds with each other. Maps are just too inherently luck based to get a 100% win rate for such a big population. Even conquerors only get such results by cherry-picking opponents on their favourite maps.

Celliotti tried something similar by making it best of 3 sets in his league to reduce the luck factor, but even then, the best anyone has been able to do in 4 years is 20 wins. Again, it's not directly comparable, but there's just too much randomness with CC for it to be feasible. Heck, you could up the 150/242 to 200/242, and there would still likely be more GA's than with the 50 in a row.

I'm interested in this bet. So both Mad and xroads bet on 50 consecutive games being not only achievable, but achievable with these settings. I'm in: 150 credits it won't happen. I mean I'm so confident, that it doesn't even matter if one gets 2 or 3 "free" rounds.
We have maps with starting bonus and maps with large no of starting terts that makes the starter's advantage too big to turn around....impossible.

Sounds good. Surely winning the test run is enough to justify a small trophy regardless. There are plenty of easier tournaments that you can bag a trophy for - although I'm embarrassed to say I've still never won one. I therefore don't expect to win this tourney, so I represent this point on behalf of whomever does.
