Inactive Tournament Reports

Inappropriate posts will be deleted without warning

This thread is meant to provide one convenient place to report Inactive Tournaments. This thread will be monitored by Lindax, who is in charge of Abandoned & Rescued Tournaments and as such investigates Inactive Tournaments.

Please post other tournament issues in the appropriate topic/forum or send a PM the appropriate Tournament Director directly.

What is an Inactive Tournament?

If an ongoing tournament has no activity for 1 month, meaning no posts by the host(s), no standings updates, no new game assignments, etc., it is considered “Inactive”.

What can you do if you are in, or encounter, an Inactive Tournament?

Check the tournament thread for updates, etc.
Check to see if there are any tournament games ongoing and/or “waiting for players”.
Check to see if the Tournament Organizer has been online recently.
Send a PM to the Tournament Organizer asking him/her about the status of the tournament.
Report the tournament in this thread.
If you prefer NOT to use this thread, you can send a PM to mcshanester29.

How to report an Inactive Tournament?

Comments: I think it was never reported because people just assumed that it was abandoned. People reached out and were patient with the TO, I myself even offered to assist in any way possible but was not contacted.

Lindax, it appears that colton is once again abandoning a tournament. It hasn't QUITE reached the 1 month period, but it's about to...and colton has done zero updates since he first posted to the thread (and that day was his last one on the site since then), despite many players trying to join the tournament and requesting information about the rules. Tournaments that haven't started aren't covered by this thread. Those get a month to fill and if they don't will be canceled at the appropriate time. I'll cancel it when the 30 days have passed.

Thanks Woodruff. Night Strike is obviously correct. Let me elaborate a little, since I imagine that it can be confusing:

A tournament is not considered active or ongoing until games are created. Only an active tournament can be considered inactive and eventually be considered abandoned.

If a tournament does not fill, or it fills but games are not created, it will be canceled, as opposed to being considered abandoned.

It might be time a rule comes into effect that does not allow someone that has not finished at least 50 tourneys--to have more than 8 ongoing? Something like that--this is going to be a lot of rescuing

It is a shame too because this guy was doing some good tourneys and running them well

We're on it HLA. It's indeed going to be a lot of rescuing and we'll probably won't be able to get them all rescued.

As for your suggestion: Those kind of suggestions are and have been discussed regularly. However, we'll never get a guarantee that somebody does not abandon a lot of tournaments at once. If something would come up to prevent yourself from finishing your tournaments we would still have 14 tournaments up for rescue, no matter if you completed 50 or more tournaments to date.

Hi Again,

A suggestion to prevent someone from walking out on a number of Tourneys would be to make them have a 'guarantor' for each one. ie a member who has provided a guarantee that if the host walks out that they will take over. Obviously must be a person capable of hosting a Tourney. I can’t image a person willing to Guarantee too many games as there’s too much risk of a heap of extra work and will prevent some one from starting too many tourneys that they can’t handle.

Just an idea, I’m a noob to Tourneys so I hope this simple idea doesn’t offend you Tourney masters

I apologize if I am not supposed to do this, I didnt see anything that said not to post here. Anyways, this tourney seems to have been abandoned. Qzerjuk is the creator of the tourney. He sent out the finals match up, but included the wrong team to play against us. I have PMed Qzerjuk twice now, both PMs have been read, but I have not received a response from him, nor has he posted anything in the tourney thread, and he still has not sent out the correct games. My PMs were sent on March 30th and 31st.

this tourney i have been waiting for the 3rd to start for about a month now but there was one game in the second rond that finished late (not sure when that game ended. so if you guys could look into this that would be great. i know it has less then a month but The TO has not been updating us when the 3rd round is going to start. and i have PM'd him and left messages on his wall asking about it.
