I think by defintion I must play in this tournament 8-)

I am freemium, and right now at 3 games (with another tournament probably popping back in for a 1v1 shortly), but will work quickly to get 2 free slots permanently open, if that's ok? I think a couple games are within a few days of ending (quicker if opponents play fast)

All right...filling up well...just four spots left. Feel free to sign-up after 64 and I'll put you onto the reserves pile.

Busy work weekend ahead, but if we fill up Friday, I'll work on getting us started over the weekend...Monday at the latest.

flexmaster33 wrote:This was tried once before by another organizer a few years back, but snagged half-way through if I remember correctly. I think I’ve tweaked the format to make it playable.

Game style: Mostly 1 vs. 1 with some 4-player games
Requirements: Open to freemiums but must keep two slots reserved for this tourney.
Settings: Unless a category calls for special settings…the default for most games will be escalating, chained, foggy.
Number of players: I’ll keep sign-ups open for 2 weeks and we’ll see where we’re at. I’m willing to run it with as few as 16 players, but would preferably have a 64-player field (32 would be the other cutoff).

Game play will use a standard Jeopardy board with 6 catagories across and five $ amounts down. Game play is mostly the same as the game show with a Jeopardy and a Double Jeopardy round, finishing with Final Jeopardy. One Daily Double will be hidden on each board as well.

Here’s a link to what a sample board looks like…
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd27 ... sample.png

Main differences
1) Instead of the standard 3-player showdown, we’ll play this is a four-person format. The top four rows ($200-$800 squares) will be reserved for 1 vs. 1 battles, while the $1,000 row will be reserved for four-person battles.
We’ll start the game with the bottom left $1,000 square…the winner gets “choice” and banks the $1,000. The runner-up gets “choice” as well.

Play continues with a series of 1 vs. 1 maps…players with “choice” select which square they want to play. If both “choice” players select the same square…the higher ranking players gets priority. Win the 1 vs. 1 map and you gain the $ for that square and control “choice” for the next map.
At the same time, we’ll be playing out the $1,000 maps in four-person format…win the map, win the $1,000.

*Any player who loses or is eliminated in 5 rounds or fewer buzzes in with the wrong answer and has that $ amount deducted from their score.

Double jeopardy will be played in the same format, however, “choice” will be given to the third-and fourth-place players to start the round.

Final Jeopardy
Contestants will be shown the category and asked to make their final wager.
From there, a pair of randomly selected 1 vs. 1 maps will be sent out. Win the map and your wager is added to your score; lose and that wager is deducted. The player (out of all four) with the most money and the end wins the game.
Players at $0 or less (extremely rare) will not be able to play Final Jeopardy

Winning the tournament…
Based on a 64-player model in please

One quick rules change:

Final Jeopardy will go as follows...
1) See the catagory
2) Make final bids
3) Round-robin with each player facing the rest of their group in a series of 1 vs. 1 battles.
Win twice to get the answer "correct"
Lose twice and you missed the "correct" response.
This will allow for more scenarios in the final round...3 players get it right, 2 & 2 or 3 players miss the question.
(Prior rules would have made it 2 right, 2 wrong every game)

One spot remains...who gets it?
Feel free to sign up on the reserves list with a big tourney like this, I'm often forced to go to it at least a time or two.
