I Shot a Man in Reno (Needs Rescued)

Original thread: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=153938

Update: In addition to the trophy which goes to the winner, I am now also offering two General Achievement medals! One will go to the player who knocks out the most other players, and the second will be awarded to the player who survives the most all-ins. For the purposes of the second medal, a player must actually be wagering all his chips to be considered "all-in." So only one person in a 1v1 all-in game will be actually "all-in" unless both players have the same number of chips at the time the game initializes.

PLEASE READ: This is not a simple, ordinary tournament so for the love of all that is holy please read the rules as you will be held accountable for knowing them!

This tournament is going to be a simulation of a no-limit poker tournament where every game you play represents one hand of poker. I will create games of varying chip values and players will enter them at their own discretion. The winner of a game collects the amount of chips the game was worth from each losing player. For example, in a 4 person game worth 50 chips, the winner will collect 50 chips from each player, a 150 chip profit. The chip value of each game will be found in the game label.

Each player will start with 2000 chips. A player is eliminated from the tournament when they have 0 chips and are not in any games. The chip values of games available in the first round will be small, but will increase in every subsequent round. A player may enter as many games per round as he can afford. At no time may a player bet more than he has. A player with 250 chips remaining may not enter two games worth 150 chips each. If a player does not have enough chips to enter into the cheapest game offered that player may not enter a regular game and must put his remaining chips toward an all-in game (explained below).

There is no minimum number of games a player must play per round, but there is a penalty for each game less than 3 played per round equal to the lowest chip value of any game that round. This means playing zero games in a round will result in a penalty of 3 times the cheapest game that round. Playing 2 games in a round will result in a penalty of 1 times the cheapest game that round. This is done to mimic the "blind" system and keep the tournament moving.

Player's chip stacks update in real time, not just at the end of rounds. A player who has wagered all his chips may enter more games in that same round after he wins at least one of his games.

Beginning in round two, there will also be games labelled as "all-in" meaning that each player in that game is wagering all he has. In order to enter an all-in game a player must be in no other games, whether active or waiting. These games will be smaller, 2 players to start, and if the winner had more chips to start than the loser he gets all the losers chips and the loser is eliminated. If the player with the lesser chip stack wins he will win from his opponent an amount of chips equal to his own, doubling his stack. Once an all-in game has started, the player with the greater number of chips may enter other games provided he leaves enough chips free to cover his all-in opponent.

Round length will depend on how many games are continuing to be joined and how quickly games are finishing, but games for each round will be open for at least one week. As of right now I intend to let games from a previous round finish before starting another, but that may change.

The winner is of course the player who has all the chips in the end. I am currently setting no limit to the number of players.

Something new
If you see your chip count showing like this
0(1500)
Then it means you are in an All-in game and could lose all the chips you have in the pot chips - 1500 in this case
Please do not join any new games if your count shows like this

If you see your chip count showing like this
2000(1500)
Then it means you are in an All-in game and could lose 1500 chips - but you still have 2000 uncommitted to enter other games

The numbers for games entered are only for those games that have started.

Confused about my chip count. At end of Day 1 you say I had 2400, in your day 2 count, you correctly show I joined 3 games, all of which were 100 points. Now it says I have 1800. One or the other is wrong.

Multi-player games are filling verrrrry slowly. Is everybody playing stupid 1v1s or do we need some reminders to people?

Can we invire players not in the tournament (or can the organiser) to partially filled games?
Maybe as a last man standing gets the chips even if players outside the tournament win the game...

Sorry - no invites to players outside the tournament.
There is about a week left before the inactive games are dropped, I will send out a reminder to players who are in less than 3 games in a couple of days.

Ok all - no more games to join so round 3 will start when the active games finish.

The chip counts in the 2nd post have had the deductions for playing under 3 games made and there are 5900 chips in the bonus pot, some or all of which will be used in round 3.

Hi all.
If you could all imagine a drum roll for a moment.
Wait for it.

Yes! Round 3 is finally here.

Password
Send me a PM if you need the password

I have not created as many games this round - there are 128 to choose from - some of which have bonus chips for the winner.

All games have a 20 or 30 round limit.

There are links in the second tournament post to games of specific chip values awaiting players, the current chip counts are there too.

As before I will be updating the counts at least daily.
Chips will not be deducted from your count until any game you join becomes active.

There are 4250 chips left in the bonus pot to be used in later rounds.

If you see your chip count showing like this
2000(0)
Then it means you are in an All-in game and could lose all your chips

If you see your chip count showing like this
2000(500)
Then it means you are in an All-in game and will have at least 500 chips left whatever the result

I made some mistakes in record keeping in round 3

I am in the process of going through the first 2 rounds to confirm the chip counts when I have done that I will confirm the round 3 totals.

Hi Swifte. I have checked back and I think I did miss that game you had 1700 chips at the end of round 2.
With 7 games started and finished in Round 3 you count is now 3000 chips. I have updated your count in the second post.

Ok - the last two games are both in their final round.

The bonus pot is at 15,900 chips.

I am going to try and use at least half for round 4 games - enjoy!
