..and don't say bigWham, because he won't do anything to help.
In this
Poly Slam tournament I beat
MudPuppy 3-2 in the previous round. However, because this system is so fucked, I don't advance since, for some dumbfuck reason, the tournament continues to be seeded by score instead of the previous round.
Where is the logic in beating someone in the round just to not advance?
The auto-tournaments are just yet another implementation bigWham has not tested properly, has rolled out, caused upset, broken things and then not made amends. Bravo.

Yeah, basically, you're fucked. Auto-tournaments are one of the main reasons I left Team CC. They were poorly organized and scored, things I tried to bring up and have changed. And my concerns didn't fall on deaf ears. Oh no, I was heard, loud and clear, and told in no uncertain terms to either go along with it, or I'd be removed from the team. I quit within a few weeks after that.
But yeah, unfortunately, this is more of the same. The idea, and the running with the idea, is much more important than how it actually works. So what if it's not perfect? These are the settings, if you don't like it, don't play it, yadda yadda.
Bollocks in 2015.

I'm aware of all that, it's completely hypocritical. I know auto-tournaments often fail in their management and efficiency, especially the tie-break clauses, but I hadn't witnessed this before. There is no logical explanation.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. These tournaments are straight up ridiculous.

Thanks for your assistance. It'd be nice if someone who had a clue of how to complete a process was given the reigns instead.

Of course I've played a lot of them but no, I haven't witnessed this. In some tournaments I realise winning the majority of a round isn't enough on occasion due to a poor score and no reset, but this is usually for multiplayer games and events. I've never seen this happen in the Poly Slam or Poly Escalating tournaments. How can you beat someone 5-0, 4-1 or 3-2 and then not advance? It's idiotic.

Unfortunately, bigWham's methods of releasing new features is to make sure they function to minimum requirements and then not fix anything because the next, hopefully working, update is more important!
