Things You Need To Know

7 Continents
8 Starting Points
(I think) 105 Territories

Changes:

Water, made more blue and muddier
Mountain, made darker on bottom and lighter on top
Desert, added slight texture
Borders, set to overlay
Castles, tried to make like villages, let me know what you think
Added Linf Village
Modified the roads slightly in places, and added a road to Linf Village
Moved a castle
Modified snow on mountain slightly (hopefully its not as much as of a cloud anymore)
Moved some text
Changed text
Changed legend text
Moved title to legend
Changed title to "Famine" instead of "Eight Kings Crisis: Famine"
Added the words 'Resource Effect Area'
Changed wording from "yet if you possess a resource" to "yet if you hold a resource"
Probably more, but cant remember

Things left to do before V.20:

Fix the mud (if possible) so that it blends with the land
Fix the bridges
Change the legend
Possibly remove the Fely-Raf bridge
Possibly adjust the Coce-Iladi bridge so that its Coce-Napt
Make the water wither to nothing and add borders at M4/M5 and M10/M11,M15/M14
Maybe increase the glow behind M17 and M16 so that they arent so hard to read
Maybe move Renx Village to Falis or Frim
Anything else you guys want done or that I have forgotten :)

Points of Discussion:

Does the water look better?
Do the castles look better?
Should I rotate the castles at all?
Is opacity okay for the borders?
Is the text good?
Anymore ideas for blending the mud and land? I tried whats been suggested, no luck. I have a handful of things left to try though
Anything else you want to discuss :D

PLEASE REMIND ME OF ANYTHING I HAVE FORGOTTEN (forgotten is if its not listed under things to do)

You'll have to explain a little more than that, I think...as the map doesn't do so well at explaining yet.

You should have copied in your ideas post so people could see how different your idea is from the current Conquest maps.

Since I already know. This draft makes me happy in that you have 8 start locations. That said I'd rather you just had a bunch of miscellaneous villages or raw resources instead of the unclaimed prebuilt farms and the like.

Also I'm concerned for your legend space as there seemed to be a lot that merited explaining. In addition I'm not sure starting with a large size for the draft is ideal as you may end up in a WWII Europe scenario of having more then a small map could have the space for.

i think people are starting to copy or at least the gameplay and graphics of the Age of Realms trilogy with maps, it may be only me but i think its annoying

I like the conquest gameplay, and it actually started with Feudal War, it's just Age of Realms came out first.

No offense to DiM but I think Feudal War does it better, or at least Fuedal War plays more to my style in a Conquest Environment.

So I guess the relevance of all that to this topic is complaining about maps being conquest style isn't going to help us a lot outside of the discussion forums. As right now they are an accepted style.

It will be fine as long as gameplay and graphics are sufficiently different. For example, AoR has villages castles and resources, whereas Feudal wars uses Castles and only villages. I think this map will be fine as long as bryguy makes it sufficiently differnt from the maps we already have.

On a side note Feudal Wars was started before the AoR trilogy.

edit: fastposted on the side note

I concur on that one...

Although I think that AOR looks a bit better... It's a shame that Gimil lost his PSD file.

having the map the same style is fine should we stop making classic style maps as we already have multiple ones - i don't think so. Likewise this map can be the same style as those already quenched too.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Anyway, like I said. To improve this I think you should have things like grain, or cotton, instead of actual farms already built for such things.

basically right now, castles are +4, villages are -2, but +2 if u have a resource for them (orchard, farm, corn, etc), and all docks connect

bonus' are adjustable, for the docks im thinking of just replacing them with a big bridge that connects all three land masses, and i couldnt think of any other word to call the orchards and food stuffs

why not? the conquest gameplay is very nice and we need more maps like that.
i totally support any map that tries this.
i will post a longer better feedback once the map gets into shape with terits and bonuses.

A lot of people vote on GFX - and because at the moment they're hideous - then people vote no...
