Thanks mate. ;)

I don't know what else to add to the map since I am satisfied with the way it looks and with the gameplay.

I like the font used but if people do not like it I could run a poll about it or something. Apart from that there's nothing else I can think about.

A few notes before I stamp this:

1. the legends says "Special bonus for yellow territories" I thought this meant the yellow continent ( ) not the yellow terr names. This could be a common mistake made. Could you better define this?

2. your image is at the full guildline size of 630x600. Do you really need this? Would it be to much to ask you to do a little trimming work?

cheers

Good work here so far Ruben. But I'll start my nit-picking for you :)
  1. I still think the font could be changed. Now it's too much of a hard contrast with the softness of the map. When I look at the map all I see is glaring white/black words all over the place. It works for the Malta map, maybe because that map had a more bold feel, but I don't think it works here. You may want to poll the audience.
  2. The outer main borders need to be less jagged. I would suggest retracing the entire outer border and working on blends from that (inner bevel and such).
  3. Some of the inner territ borders are very faint, as others are darker. Is this on purpose for some visual reason? I would prefer inner territ borders to be consistent.
  4. The background light green is very dull. The gray swirls don't really add to the feel of this map either. Even though I'm all for a non-busy background, maybe add a little texture or something else to the background here.
  5. I'm still waiting to see your bridge design.
  6. I'm not a fan of the large beveled rectangle that the legend sits on. It's very dull.

Overall though nice job Ruben. And really quick progress so far.

Hi RJ. Thanks for your feedback.

- I am going to make some different versions of the font and a poll to see what is the most popular option as you suggested.
- I'll see what I can do about the border issue to refine them a bit.
- I don't know about the background...I like the simplicity of it.
- I won't be needing the bridges since I modified the rivers to be impassable borders. From feedback gathered this was less confusing since some of the rivers were crossing through the middle of territories.
- The rectangle was used because another user commented that the previous design on which the legend was sitting was not good. Check the previous design in one of the earlier versions.

Thanks again RJ. Your comments are always much appreciated. :)

I actually missed this one! Thanks for pointing it out.

About the image size...what is the preferred dimension then? I wanted to use as much space as possible so as to have an easily legible map.

Edit: Can I blame t-o-m for missing this one since he spams a lot? :p (Just kidding t-o-m! Hehe.)

Gimil's referring to the massive size of your legend and the seal at the top of the map. If you moved the seal to the top left of the territories, and the legend to the bottom right, it would not make the actual map look so small.

Ruben theres no prefernce to size. Just loking to not have all maps at max dimensions. The more maps we can fit on small monitors the better :)

Dont go out your way to resize just a little trim here and there should do the trick.

Okay I will trim it a bit.

I was asking for future reference to keep in mind when I start a new map since I always tend to go for the limit! :)

New Update: Version 12 and 12a

- I trimmed the image size down a bit. (Gimil)
- The interior borders are now all of the same shade. (RJ Beals)
- There are 2 versions of the outside borders 12 and 12a. Which one do you prefer RJ? I don't know if this is what you meant. (RJ Beals)

Coming next: Poll with different font options for the territory names. (RJ Beals)

Stick with Version 12. 12a looks worse border-wise.

I find the background very plain and boring to look at. I think you should change it by adding a slight texture. I hate very busy backgrounds, but this one is so plain it's practically crying for attention. So, I'd change it slightly, and certainly don't add anything fancy.

Okay I have added some textures to the background.

Check versions 1.12c and 1.12d on page 1 and let me know which one you prefer.

1.12d looks better for the map. 1.12c could confuse the every living crap out of others with the mosaic look.
