Maybe you should quote the whole of my post or ask me if you didn't understand?

For people who are capable of installing Map Rank, they could go to the game finder.
Then pick from the obvious list of players and select sequential or freestyle to get their Rank at Sequential or Freestyle.
Then collect in a thread much like some of your other ones.

You cannot get an independent score with the current system because all points allocated are relative to all previous games played.
So this is the best option for now.

make 2 leaderboards

Postby porkenbeans on Sat Nov 08, 2008 2:20 pm

Concise description:
  • Make one for seq. and one for freestyle.

Specifics:
  • The top of the leaderboard is nothing but freestylers. So, under this addition, a player will actualy have 2 diff. ranks. One rank on the freestyle leaderboard, and one rank on the seq. leaderboard.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
[list]
[*]It will allow the rest of us, the ones that do not care for freestyle to compete against each other. There will be 2 conquers as a result. One from each camp. :o :D

I dont know exactly how this can be done, but, I would sugg. that all members could simply be coppied to the new Seq. leaderboard, and all start at noob. Leaving the original alone, and re-naming it to the, Freestyle leaderboard. ;) That is basicly what it has become anyways. They would still enjoy there spot on the freestyle Leaderboard, but, I wonder how they will fare on the seq. board ? ...:-k This new leaderboard could also have a whole new set of rules that would finally address and fix the prob.of multies and farmers too. Like, only players of the same rank can play each other. They could still play on the old board if they want. But Im sure they will sooner or later want to compare their skill at playing RISK.

Sure, and lets make one for adjacent forts, one for unlimited forts, one for chained forts

One for FOW, one for doubles, one for triples, one for quads

On for 2 player games, 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8

One for terminator, one for assasian

One for speed, one for casual.

PorknBeans it is good that you like to contribute ideas, but think about them before you make them.
Being conquerer is defined being "top dog" as in the CONQUERER of everything, having two seperate boards would just frustrate people.

It wouldn't happen.... so get good at freestyle, or otherwise have fun at the bottom of the board.

You have to get with the times, if you arn't good enough then you won't make it. FS is the way right now...

Yes, I think that you are right. I have come to the same conclusion. just this morning, I decided to put it to the test. I joined a noob freestyle. It was a cake walk, and I dont even know much about freestyle. But is it all about farming noob freestyle from here on out. Or is there a way to play challenging games and still make it to the top :?:

I think it's a good idea and I don't quite understand me-da-minority's slightly hysterical response, unless it was ironic.
I think it would work better with filters though so there is still one conqueror - I'd also like filters for flat rate, no spoils and escalating.

He is most likely a farmer. He has invested many many hours of mind numbing noob games. And he has worked his way to the top a result. He knows very well that he would not fair well on an even battlefield.

HEHEHE  Just tellin it like it is bro. My finger is not pointed at just one person, but at the mass of No-skill, wanna-bees at the top of this so called leaderboard. Ive played several of them. Most could not even stand next to a medeocre player, let alone, a truely good ''RISK'' player. Then you see them get on these forums and talk like they are the authority on this game. Its quite pathetic really. [-X

Are you kidding me ? You equate farming to forts. Forting comes after your turn. The default is set to ''FREESTYLE'' So noobs start a game without knowing anything about the world of hurt that is coming. You know this very well. as it IS how you got your rank. In your quest for points, You have turned a very fun and challenging game into a joke. And I will keep saying it loud and clear- THE LEADERBOARD DOES NOT REFLECT THE ''TRUE'' SKILLS OF ''RISK''. ...period. [-X Oh, and get the hell out of MY chair.

So? The leaderboard is the leaderboard of Conquer Club. It reflects the true skills of Conquer Club, where the rules are different from Risk.

If gaining points on the leaderboard is your primary objective here, then use the game to your advantage to do so. You can't change the rules so that you'll gain points.

That sounds strangely like you're saying farming is a good idea.
It also sounds like you think the only point in playing is to get points, do you actually even enjoy the game or is it just a means to an end for you? ie. farming.

People come here to play ''RISK'' knucklehead. They believe that the score board is set to show the best and worst in order. If ,like you say, It is not risk, but some other game that is played here, then why not state the nature of the true game that is being played in the instructions. [-X I see from your rank that you are not a farmer. A 1,200 game corp. with quite a few medels. This is very perplexing to me. You are either a morron, or possibly someones multi ? ... :-k

Either that or locked ...

Despite e_i_pi's foresight and helpful hint this topic continues to deteriorate into an off topic ramble of the kind he describes.
If the majority choose to continue posting off topic I'm afraid I'm going to have no choice but to lock the thread.

Even though Me-Da-MiNoRiTY's post is intended (I think) as an exaggeration to make a point it actually very closely resembles something which I proposed in the Scoring Ad Hoc group run earlier in the year. I was actually quite serious! Having said that my impression is that lack is not keen to have anything more than one global scoreboard and so two scoreboards as porkenbeans is suggesting or many more as Me-Da-MiNoRiTY and I are suggesting ( ;) ) I think are very unlikely to come to pass ...

I could be wrong ...
FREE M-E-Mbership and simple rules. Conquer Club - it's not complicated.

random me statistic @ 13 December 2008 - 1336 posts : 232nd most public posts (not counting Tower of Babble) of all time.

good points, lol, or could be just curiosity

i mean what gave me the idea was some players have over 4000 score on certain maps and yet there overall score on the scoreboard is like 2000?? you know  so just curious, it could also show many there strengths and weaknesses, what they are better at and what they may need to improve on, or what they should just stick with.

Blitz you have to understand that the +4,000 on one map is meaningless. Let me try to explain. Let's say that I get to 3,000 points playing one map. Then I play it everday, winning 12 points and loosing 25 or 30 because of my score and my opponents. For this reason I stay at 3,000, and since I only play this map I stay at +2,000 on this map.

Now let us assume that I start playing another map, let's say doodle, and I loose 2,000 points and go back to private. Now I go back to my old map, but I'm gaining 25 points a win and loosing 15 or 20 a loss, so my score goes back up. I get back to 3,000, but now technically I am at +4,000 on this map. However I would never have gotten to +4,000 had I not lost 2,000 points on doodle. So my +4,000 on whatever map this is is meaningless.

In fact, I could go loose 2,000 more points on doodle, then bring my score back up on my favorite map and now be at +6,000. There is no limit, I could get up to 10,000 or 20,000 points on this map, but only by dumping points on other maps(not even intentionally, just have to be a maps that I suck at), and then getting the points back on maps that I'm good at. I could never actually reach a score of 10,000 or 20,000 overall, but I could easily do it on one map, (assuming I am somewhat skilled on that map).

There is no doubt both require certain levels of skill, but really are different games.

Speed Freestyle should even be in another class or bracket, it is a monster advantage for those with clickable maps and the fastest computers, and not as much skill involved here if you have these advantages, agreed? Now if all had clickable maps and all had the equal speed of computers, then it would, CC created a huge loophole when they allowed this, the major reason why the point inflation.

It is not as much advantage as you think Blitz, until you have played a certain number of these you will not understand what I am saying.I am no-where near the fastest player in such games but I am able to win a few here and there. Now if you get a player that has the fastest connection and is competent that does create an advantage, there was some of us that dominated back when drop-downs was the only option, bring those days back, fine with me.

Re: Scoreboard Thread for Freestyle and Sequential

Having seperate scoreboards would just be bad for CC as a whole.

If you are going to have two scoreboard for Freestyle and Sequential, then you can't do one like the current Map Rank scoreboard. Since you can manipulate it way too easy by dumping points in sequental and winning more from freestyle and boosting your freestyle points.

Instead you would be forced to create two diffrent kind of points. Freestyle Points and Sequential Points. So you pretty much have two diffrent scores.

That would just spit up the whole CC community in two. One being freestylers and one being sequential players.

So i think that having two scoreboard would just cause more trouble then it would fix.

Not to argue with your point, but that split already kinda exists...
