The autojoin doesn't work well for team games (at least not my formula for it)...I'll resend tonight.

Javelin updated going into the final set of prelims...blue numbers mean the round cap has been reached, but eliminations could still bump up the number. Red numbers are solid.

Well we now know the place-winners in the high jump...we just don't know the order...updated results for that event posted...Commander has 0 misses so far and all the others have 2.

Active events have been updated Oct. 12...the computer geeks (techs) are stealing my computer for a couple days, so I won't get out another update until late Wednesday night.

Kansas State has two finalists in the high jump, but their team hopes may have hit the wall when the Wildcats suffered a loss to LSU in the prelims on the 1,600 relay leaving them scoreless in that key tag-team event.

The scoreboard should clear up shortly with several events nearing podium status :)

Updated events...Alabama advances to the semis in the 1,600 relay and Commander turns in a big effort to go from 7th to 2nd in the fourth round of the triple jump...round 5 now underway in that event.

Commander wins the high jump, which finally puts USC on the board.

Flexmaster, I've got a question. Or more like a complaint/suggestion.

With the 5k meter run, you mentioned that the rest of the games would be esc, which is fine. However, the current games are measured ONLY by territory count at the end of 50 rounds. Doesn't that give an advantage to those going near the end of the round? If someone at the beginning of the 50th round (like me) stays pat, someone near the end could realize they need to pass me in terts to win, and auto all their units. This makes the fog totally unimportant, because all you need to know is tert count. Does this mean I need to auto mine at the beginning of the round to have a chance? Seems to me like it should be some combination of territories and armies that determines the winner, which gives less of an incentive to auto your units in all directions. However, this is coming from a biased participant of that game. I would appreciate if others would comment on this, and I understand if you're unwilling to change the rules midway into the game.

Thanks,

Commander

Scoreboard has been updated to include the recently finished high jump...Congrats to USC's Commander for a big win (only one missed attempt) to give the Trojans their first points. Also of note, shoop76 took second to help Texas A&M close the team gap on Florida...the Aggies could continue to make a move with two appearing headed to the finals in the javelin and one more locked into the 5K finals.

Speaking of the 5K...an update has been posted and 3 of the 8 finalists spots are filled. Commander brings up a good point, but for this tourney we'll stick with the original "most territories" after 50 rounds. I will rethink a better "distance" map for next year's meet.

Only four events still active...I've updated results for those with notable changes...triple jump is nearing completion and good news for the rest of the pack as South Carolina knocked league-leading Florida into the consolation pool in the 1,600 relay.

Postby flexmaster33 on Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:49 am

Sorry for the long delay...some of these multi games are going long...

Anyway, the triple jump has gone final...congrats to USC's Commander for his second win of the meet. He has accounted for all 20 of the Trojan's points so far.

Also, Andir and Plankeye went 2-4 for Texas to score 13 team points. The surge vaulted the Longhorns into third in the team tally (also updated, through 7 events).

Three events remain active with several spots filled for the 5K finals
The javelin is about to enter its final three rounds of throws
The 1,600 relay in now into the semifinals with Texas A&M making a move on Florida in the team race.

The 5K moves closer to the finals...slowly.
The javelin begins finals (for one flight...still waiting on the other)
LSU beats Texas in the consols of the 1,600 relay, as we move closer to placing matches in that event.

Again, I apologize for the snail pace of this tourney...I've learned my lesson on settings for various styles of play and will remedy it for a similar tourney next summer.

I haven't made any official updates yet, but will shortly after Christmas...

Recent happenings...
olkok gives Florida a much-needed presence by taking the 7th spot into the 5K finals...one prelim flight remains active, then it will be onto the scoring match for that event.

Also, Texas A&M continues its run for the top of the leaderboard by advancing to the finals of the 1,600 relay where it will face Georgia for the big 10 team points. All scoring races are active or have been sent out for that event.

In the javelin...the final jumps are underway and scoring should be completed within the week. As we get scores, I'll be sure to tabulate the scoreboard and post the official results per event.

Man, has it really been a month since scores have been updated???

I know I've said this before, but I'll do a similar track tourney next year with better scheduling, so we can get through it better.

Anyway, Texas A&M made a big move in the javelin scoring 16 team points to vault to the top of the leaderboard, overtaking Florida 49-42 with two events still to be tallied (5,000 and 1,600 relay)

Shoop76 supplied a 10-point bonus for the Aggies after going from 10th place to first on the final throw in the javelin. Teammate dcc1220 took third in the event, putting a pair of A&Mer's on the podium.

I have also posted the top-20 individual scorers for this tournament (under the team scoreboard) and will post a full list once all 10 events are completed. Congrats again to shoop76, who heads that list at the moment. His worst finish was 5th place (not counting the relays).

Nine of the 10 events have gone final...with the finals of the 5K being sent out in a moment.

Texas A&M has clinched the title, so congrats to Witt13, dcc1220, shoop76 and The Mantis for winning the tournament. I will report it and shut this down once the final 5K map is completed. Will also post final results and individual standings at that point.

Thanks to all who took part...sorry once more for the length of this one...I hope to return with a similar tourney next summer, but a stream-lined version that will wrap up more quickly.

Not to complain, but I probably would've won the javelin if not for the rules change with escalating spoils. Shoop played a great game, but the spoils completely changed the scoring. Just something to think about for next time. Other than that, great tourney flex.

The spoils may have changed game play, but not necassarily the scoring...I kept it on the flat-rate scale...giving 10 armies for rainbows, etc down the line for the scoring formula. So players weren't suddenly getting credit for 50 armies for a late card turn-in.

Final results are in...congrats to our champion Texas A&M...(Witt13, dcc1220, shoop76 and The Mantis)

Nice job to those four and thanks to all who took part.

Win has been reported, so A&Mers should be getting their medals at the next update.
