Why the Hell was I holding my breath when you said what team you were going to?

The Raptors weren't even a choice!

But I think I can safely say that the Heat are my new favorite team because Bosh is with them now and he was my favorite player up until now!

GO HEAT!

Lebron's a total douche. Way to stab your fanbase in the back during a poorly-stage-managed farce on national television, you arrogant dickhole. That being said, I laughed heartily during most of it, since I don't have a dog in that particular hunt (unless he was going to take a 90% pay cut and come play for the Lakers).

My favorite part? All the kids in the background groaning when he announced his decision.

He's not a douche. He did exactly what any of us would've done. Cleavland had their chance, for 7 God damned years. The best player they ever got to compliment LeBron was get Shaq last year. Freaking morons...the fans shouldn't be mad at LeBron, they should be asking for the Cavs's GM's head (no clue who he is but he clearly doesn't know how to build a team around one of the best players ever).

I've always liked Wade, and Bosh being my favorite player on my now-tied-for-favorite team...they're guaranteed a championship.

Seriously tho, I don't see a point in watching basketball anymore. Every now and then I catch a game of lebron or kobee and nothing, nothing like MJ.

It was simply perfection. Like when he was sick and still played and helped the bulls win a playoff game. At the end of his career perfecting the fade away jumper like the one last shot that gave the bulls a championship. Kobee may win 5 more titles and he wouldn't reach MJ's greatness.

It's because LeBron and Kobe just aren't MJ. MJ is built like the perfect basketball player. He has attributes like the perfect basketball player.

Kobe is a good shooter, but is so-so near the basket. LeBron is amazing near the basket, but a so-so shooter. Wade was the most exciting player for me to watch, but this year should be different. Watching Wade and LeBron on the same team is going to be ridiculous.

It's not so much that he changed teams, tho that is a fanbase that's had more than its share of heartache.

It's that he made such a big production out of it: talking about it for years, doing a bunch of interviews right in the middle of the NBA Finals (a trick that people absolutely ripped A-Rod for when his agent pulled the same shit a few years ago), having NBA owners come kiss the ring in Cleveland, that appalling spectacle tonight (which was just wrong on so many levels that my brain's about to explode, but there's something just wrong about telling several million people to go f*ck themselves on national TV).

To recap, he fucked over his biggest fans, became the poster child for arrogant asshole athletes, alienated basketball fans like me that didn't even have a dog in the fight... and for what? The Heat's defense will be lousy, they'll have to get really lucky to get any halfway decent role players, it'll take awhile for lebron/wade/bosh to gel, all three will have to play huge minutes (I put the over/under on Wade's games played next season at 55), and their best-case scenario is getting murdered by the Lakers in the finals.

btw, if you haven't read Dan Gilbert's rant, it's a thing of beauty.

And I dunno when this turned into some kind of referendum on Kobe, but I find it funny that the only people that compare him to MJ are the people that do so to tear down Kobe. He's not MJ, he's Kobe, an entirely different sentient being that happens to work in the same profession. Sheesh.

I didn't watch the production...we had a color guard performance tonight. But I am sad to hear he didn't stay in Cleveland. I'm not a Cleveland fan (at all), but Cleveland really has had so much sports brutality over their history, that it just hurts me seeing him leave there. I don't particularly blame him for leaving...but I wish he hadn't.

I see no problem with this. I guess it's just a matter of taste. If he has the ability to be more important than the Finals, then f*ck, he is more important than the Finals. I wonder what the ratings were for this "special"...I would think they were pretty high. And he did not tell them to go f*ck themselves...are you kidding? He did the exact opposite.

The Heat's defense will be lousy

I hope you're either kidding or drunk. Wade and LeBron were both on the all-defensive team. Bosh is an amazing defensive power forward too. They'll arguably have the BEST defense next year...

Ok. This is how I look at it. Let's take LeBron. A faster, more explosive and better at defense Pierce. Wade? A younger, more consistent shooter who can do more than "just shoot", and a better defensive Ray Allen. And Bosh. A younger, faster, more versatile and better scoring Garnett. If Chalmers plays like Rondo did when the Celtics won it all (aka DON'T f*ck UP), then I think they have a huge chance at winning next year.

btw, if you haven't read Dan Gilbert's rant, it's a thing of beauty.

Just did. As I said, THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE. THEY FUCKED UP. THEY SUCKED. Don't you dare say LeBron "betrayed" Cleavland. They're lucky that had him for so long. He owes NOTHING to them. ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY NOTHING. If it wasn't for him, they wouldn't even be in the Playoffs.

Gilbert has a dick in his ass and sand in his vagina. He is butthurt and KNOWS that the Cavs have NO CHANCE...especially considering they're going to come up empty in this free agency. [/quote]

That's the thing, tho. It takes a special kind of egomaniac to try and upstage the NBA Finals after stinking up the joint two weeks earlier. Hell, if I'd been Lebron, I'd've spent the finals in a gym, working on my outside shot, rather than yukkin' it up with Larry King. And for the record, some lame platitudes don't change the fact that he did, in fact, tell Cleveland fans to go f*ck themselves on national TV. He's perfectly within his right to leave, but my god, did he have to make such a spectacle of it? Imagine your girlfriend dumping you on national TV, and then copulating with her new Italian porn star boyfriend right there on camera. That's pretty much what happened.

Army of GOD wrote:I hope you're either kidding or drunk. Wade and LeBron were both on the all-defensive team. Bosh is an amazing defensive power forward too. They'll arguably have the BEST defense next year...

Well, Wade was second-team, but you'll notice that basketball is a team game. There's not much in the way of rebounding on that team, Bosh is somewhat less than elite defensively, and I don't really see much in the way of a grinder mentality there that the best defensive teams have, like Boston. (actually, this is going to become a bit of a theme... I can't believe you're putting me in a position to defend the fucking celtics)

Um, Miami is a bit size-deficient when it comes to the frontcourt. They don't have a guy like Perkins to throw elbows and snag rebounds and neutralize the opposing center. Even mentioning Bosh and Garnett in the same sentence is an insult, Bosh brings about a millionth the intensity that KG does, and KG actually, you know, plays defense. Wade is a better scorer than Ray Allen, and a better defender, but he's not as good from 3, he's injury-prone, and he's not quite as effective when the refs aren't bailing him out. Lebron's Lebron, obviously he's good but he has a tendency to disappear in big games. And Mario Chalmers? Are you fucking kidding me? Sure, they have a chance, but they don't match up well with the Lakers, and they still have to get past Boston and Orlando.

Here's a handy chart for you to consult:
Bynum > whoever the heat trot out there
Gasol > Bosh
Artest < Lebron (but Artest is fully capable of shutting Lebron down)
Kobe > Wade
Fisher/Blake > Chalmers
LA bench > Miami bench
Jackson > Spoelstra

That looks pretty overwhelming to me.

Jeez, settle down, Beavis. I never said he betrayed them. I don't even give that much of a shit. But he owed them the goddamn common courtesy of a respectful parting in some other format. And to be honest, it's not like the guy ever delivered any of those titles he promised. It's a shame that he cares more about his image than he seems to care about the actual process of playing and winning basketball games.

And you're right, Gilbert is totally butthurt, but that response was awesome, and if you can't take any pleasure in a billionaire completely losing his shit in a press release, than I don't know what to tell you.

Except instead of someone that you love and want to spend the rest of your life with, it's a single NBA player. I don't really see what I would've done differently than LeBron. While people like you might hate it (probably because he upstaged your Lakers's championship), he became so much more famous for all of this. I applaud him.

Well, Wade was second-team, but you'll notice that basketball is a team game. There's not much in the way of rebounding on that team, Bosh is somewhat less than elite defensively, and I don't really see much in the way of a grinder mentality there that the best defensive teams have, like Boston. Well we'll have to see who else they get. I couldn't name a single Celtics player other than Pierce before Allen and Garnett came, and I'm well-versed in basketball. I'm sure some guys playing with LeBron and Wade will be that much more inclined to play the hardest they can...Bosh included.

Lebron's Lebron, obviously he's good but he has a tendency to disappear in big games. And Mario Chalmers? Are you fucking kidding me?

I'm sorry, but Perkins was a nobody before the Celtics got good. Maybe the Heat can do that to someone else...we'll see.

And it is not an insult. I'll admit, Bosh played on a shitty team the last few years. But I can guarantee you that being put on a better team with some AMAZING players will surely fire him up more than he already was. LeBron does not disappear in big games. He didn't have something which is crucial in being a good team....a good team. Kobe was shit in Game 7 this year. Why'd they win? A GOOD TEAM.

And about the Chalmers thing...didn't everyone say that about Rondo the year that they won it? Now look at him...

Here's a handy chart for you to consult:
Bynum > whoever the heat trot out there
Gasol = Bosh
Artest <<<<< Lebron
Kobe < Wade
Fisher/Blake > Chalmers
LA bench > Miami bench
Jackson = Riley

Fixed (with a less biased point of view).

Jeez, settle down, Beavis. I never said he betrayed them. I don't even give that much of a shit. But he owed them the goddamn common courtesy of a respectful parting in some other format. To the other stuff: Oh...misunderstood you there. Forget I said anything.
